Actually just came up with another way...

The '18 in 18' gets split in to two rounds of 9 matches. For the first round teams are randomly allocated to one of four groups (2 with 4 teams, 2 with 5). The winner of the group is the team that scores the most using their entire squad as you suggested ossie. The second round then consists of just 4 teams with the winner of group 1 vs winner of group 3, and winner of group 2 vs winner of group 4. Again the winner of these matches is determined by score of entire squad. The two winners then play under normal rules (if teams are announced before hand) during the last round of practice matches to determine the winner.

I like it! With a slight modification...

How about 3 groups of 6, with the winner of group going through + a lucky loser (highest scoring team that didn't qualify).

Than it is highest scoring team v 4th highest, 2nd v 3rd?

Fairly similar to last year I suppose that way....

Although I can't think of any other way to run it, so sounds fine.

We don't have that depth anymore though.  :o

I mean, we have the depth, just not like it was... and even then, Alexandria's end to the season wasn't much to write home about.
