Everyone has about 3 spuds on their list that aren't showing anything. Getting rid of one of them shouldn't be a drama.

I'm for both the min and max cap. Was over the max last year, and I didn't even have to try to get under it. Delistings/retirements did that for me.

It also looks like I might even go under the min this year, just through an insane amount of injuries. And I don't imagine it will effect my trading, as I always off-load draft picks for instant competitiveness, and use my later ones for recycled players. Which is how I jumped from 16th to 4th in one year; increasing depth by getting players whom play in their AFL sides' best 22. Which hence lead to more instant competitiveness.

The minimum cap enforces this healthy tactic, so I will always support it.

At first the pumas were afraid, they were petrified
Kept thinking they could never live without ablett, captain of their side
CF spent so many rounds
Thinking how Ablett's injury did them wrong
Pumas grew strong
And they learned how to get along

Now ablett won't be back
from Melbourne Doc's Place
They just walked in to find Ablett with those post-surgery stitches and pain upon his face.
They should have given him the week off
They should have given him annual leave
If they knew for just one second that it'd lead to season ending injury!

Go on now, recover some more
Just rest in bed
We don't need you this season anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to win the game off your boot
Without you we won't crumble
Did you think we'd not even rely on our vice?

Oh no not pumas, they will survive
As long as they have vice captain Jacobs
Their grand finals hopes will stay alive
They've got all the finals to live
Free tickets to player's wives to give
Pumas will survive! yay, yay!
Brilliant nails! But considering what you had said in my team thread I didn't expect the song to say we would survive without him!

Clever read Nails!

5th time the charm for Rhythm cup?

Wouldn't mind reducing the list size, few guys I'd be happy to cut.

I like the points cap, it's good for the comp.

Nails' parody was great as always, top notch stuff.

And those stats were brilliant, nice work Oss.

is the points cap even achieving anything? i don't see WXV any more equal then any other XV comp

This is clearly the statement of a man who isn't involved in Euros.  :P

Holz's Euro team is even better than his Dublin team atm, he has the luxury of benching guys like Douglas and Petrie iirc. On the other end of things, the Dinos (the team I co-coach) struggles to put together forward and back lines... oh and did I mention the fact that the rucks are Vardy, Daw and Currie?

The gap between the top team here and the bottom team is decent, but in Euros it's much worse imo.  :)

was trading that made the comp unequal and poor coaching

Awesome stats as always Oss

Don't mind the idea of reducing lists to 40, will increase the draft pool and help equalise the comp to a point.

hasn't been around long enough to have a big effect but it will work.

My only question is whether the minimum cap is needed.

Dublin has a much better list than Serbia. Serbia is old, if I traded my young Dublin stars fir older players I could be much more dominant.

The thing that's hard now though is that new coaches have come in and taken over shower teams (ele + Rico, Q + me) and now we need to reform the teams somehow... I know the points cap means we can't trade away what talent we have but it is not a quick fix to import talent in to our team really. Not hating on the points cap (I don't mind it) or the rest of the system but there's clearly no quick fix for us low teams!

Awesome stuff Nails, I tried singing it in tune as well ;D.

Row Labels    Team W   L   Total   %W
Stade de France   PNL   6   2   8   75.00
Stade de Gerland   PNL   4   2   6   66.67
Stade du Ray   PNL   2   4   6   33.33

Any way we can play more games not at Stade du Ray? :P.

Buenos Aires are building a new home stadium in which they only play against bottom 4 opponents in.

Just playing around with thoughts, no need to panic! Not suggesting anything....

Looking at what this season might look like if we had a 'Divisions' based system from last year results...

This example has 4 divisions:

Division 1: Top 10 from 2013
Division 2: Bottom 8 from 2013 and Top 2 from Reserves in 2013
Division 3: Positions 3 to 10 from Reserves in 2013
Division 4: Bottom 8 from Reserves in 2013

Ladders, purely based on points scored this year, didn't bother doing a fixture...

Division 1:
Dublin Destroyers   2147
Mexico City Suns   2143
Sao Paulo Pumas   2135
Buenos Aires Armadillos   2066
Cairo Sands   2006
Moscow Spetsnaz   1987
Toronto Wolves   1914
Berlin Brewers   1908
Cape Town Cobras   1862
London Royals   1796

Division 2:
PNL Reindeers   1978
Tokyo Samurai   1876
Seoul Magpies   1874
New York Revolution   1765
Pacific Islanders   1729
Wellington Warriors   1702
Beijing Thunder   1686
New Delhi Tigers   1602
Cape Town Cobras (R)   1097
Imperial Princes   984

Division 3:
Marseille Kings   1919
Port Morseby Iguanadons   1537
Toronto Wolvers (R)   1528
Alexandria Hieroglyphics   1495
Mexico City Suns (R)   1350
Belfast Braves   1115
Rio de Janeiro Jaguars   1066
Rhineland Rum-Runners   551

Division 4:
Pyongyang Chollimas   1339
Mumbai Elephants   1325
Wellington Warriors (R)   1043
Buenos Aires Armadillos (R)   989
Siberian Wolverines   928
Yuzawa Typhoon   866
Washington Rebellion   764
Shanghai Storm   692

Thinks of note: PNL would look likely winners in Division 2 and would be the unlucky team not to be in Div 1. London would struggle in Div 1 this year. The 2 reserves teams in Div 2 wouldn't be competitive, but a team like Marseille in Div 3 would have caused some havoc for some senior teams if they were in Div 2.

Going forward it would be:
- Top 2 are promoted, bottom 2 demoted.
- Except a Reserves team can not be in the same league, or in a higher division, than its senior team. So a Reserves team could never be in Div 1, and Senior team could never be in Div 4.

Again, just playing.
