I think people are becoming concerned that teams such as Mexico or Dublin because they have so many assets can just continually stay at the top.

The championship window seems to be guys in that 27-29 bracket correct?

Lets say you have FIVE of each.
- FIVE 27 year olds
- FIVE 28 year olds
- FIVE 29 year olds

At the end of every season you simply trade your 29yos, rinse, repeat, sweeten the deals with picks. Endless dynasty. 8)

The current state of the comp isn't bad. NDT could make finals this year so that proves that even the showertest list in the world could contend within 3 seasons with managers who are good at the game. Yes Cairo are shower but if they follow NDT and do good work instead of pinning their hopes on injury prone players all the time they'll bounce back in no time.
It slightly annoys me that there's a tendency to talk about literal years as though it's not much time in this competition. Mexico have been dominant for four years and Holz's only statement is; "just give it a couple of years!" Like, seriously? I get that it's a dynasty game which by definition requires a lot of time, but I think we should be open to creating a more volatile competition.

TBH my cap that I posted last year was far superior to the current model and it got squashed immediately.
Refresh me

A few more years and they shouldn't be in finals. Mexico is the only team who has remained top.
"A few more years" you've proved my point! Haha.

Not that simple unfortunately. Next year there will be people who have coached 5 seasons and have (very) little to show for it. As enjoyable WXV is, I don't think people want to spend the next 10 years on here building a team if they could simply trade a few players for a chance next year.

Let me lay out Dublin's list as of next season:
19: J.Weitering
24: A.Treloar
25: D.Martin, J.Gunston
26: A.Rance, C.Yarran
27: R.Sloane, L.Jetta
28: J.Selwood, T.Goldstein, J.Riewoldt
29: G.Birchall, M.Murphy
30: L.Franklin, J.Roughead

Lets say you traded with Rio to achieve the "perfect balance"
Birch, Murphy, Buddy, Roughy all out.
For those 4 I'd give
T.Boak(28), M.Robinson(27), D.Zaharakis(27), R.Tarrant(27)

After that Dublin would have five 27yos and four 28yos.

Simple trade right? I'd do that every day of the week! Rio would probably also have to add to that right? Oh lets say a 1st rounder. Now Dublin have TWO 1st rounders. Which they could package with ummm oh Weitering! And get a premium anything.

The opportunity is there during the trade period. Cape Town for example could probably get some guns if you gave up Parish or Mills or 2MP but the youthful teams choose not to be competitive. Nobody made you go down the youth path, and you could turn that around in one trade period if you really wanted to. So many teams trade away their older players or avoid bringing them in at all costs and those teams are as much to blame for the lopsided competition as anyone.

100% of 2016 points or 90% of 2015 points if that's higher. I worked out the figures, what the new cap needs to be raised to, to accommodate the extra points. It eliminates guys like Libba being worth no points under the cap. Watson and Sandi will cost me about 100 points next year. Sandilands alone should cost 1500+ so the current model is almost useless.

Barely worth reading though.

Aaron Black still sucks.

Well Guys, if you don't want the same teams on top every year, there's a very easy solution..

.. STOP trading with the top teams, especially stop trading premiums to them..
Coaches have to take some responsibility for their actions. Can't just expect rule changes to even up the comp.

Send Mexico and Dublin to the draft every year with their late picks and dry up their source of instant premiums.   It's really quite simple.

This is exactly me :-X I'm trading for the premiership each and every year now, which means I'll look towards the older players (whom are comparatively cheaper than those whom average the same but are younger), and only the top teams really have those.

Nuts to waiting.

Your team is/was a contender you just got hit by injuries. Give your team Fyfe and Hibberd back and it would do damage. thats the point loads of contenders.

Gawn, Fyfe, Steven, Libba, Crouch, Hibberd, Walters, Viney  thats a better set of youth then any of the top 4 in the comp have by a mile.

Sorry for the format.....

So.... ignoring poaching for the moment, how's this for a regular salary cap?

How to value each player:

Average of the 17 H&A games from the last 3 years (51 games max), multiplied by 3000 (just a magic number to look good)
Multiplied by a 'Premium factor', i.e. 1 + percentage of times that player has scored over 100
Multiplied by a 'Durability factor', i.e. 1 + games played/48 games (games played in home and away season, I'm missing the last 3 rounds so this will be adjusted)

Players with less than 10 games are discounted. Minimum price is $200,000

Total value of each team (which I'm pretty happy with):
Team   Value   Total Players
Mexico City Suns   $20,321,000   46
Dublin Destroyers   $19,743,000   45
Rio de Janeiro Jaguars   $18,860,000   46
Berlin Brewers   $18,832,000   46
Pacific Islanders   $18,276,000   47
Christchurch Saints   $18,069,000   45
PNL Reindeers   $18,021,000   45
New York Revolution   $17,973,000   45
Buenos Aires Armadillos   $17,831,000   46
Moscow Spetsnaz   $17,768,000   47
Beijing Thunder   $17,708,000   45
New Delhi Tigers   $17,332,000   46
Seoul Magpies   $17,032,000   45
Tokyo Samurai   $16,545,000   46
Cairo Sands   $16,466,000   47
Cape Town Cobras   $16,432,000   46
London Royals   $15,294,000   45
Toronto Wolves   $14,668,000   46

That looks pretty good compared to the actual ladder right?

Not sure if the player numbers are right. Essendon players are probably messing with things here a bit (may have to adjust those in durablity stats also)

We have 15 players earning $1m or more. 5 of them on Dublin, and 0 on Mexico City.

Maybe drop the Magic number to 2000. Those prices look a little excessive.

Yeah, that's just cosmetic at this stage, no issue

Amazing work Ossie and i actually much prefer this cap to the current cap. I understand the cap is here to stay so support it as its what purp/ossie wants so 100% behind it.

The thing that i think should be added is a age component. Selwood is probably my least valuable mid out of Dmart, Sloane, Treloar, Selwood super combo

Fyfe is worth far far more then Ablett.

I really like the numbers but the young break out players like Gawn, Bont undervalued the most so a age factor would help tremendously. a 75 average 19 year old is worth lots a 75 average 32 year old is worth nothing.
