NBA is the perfect example.

That said, we aren't the NBA. I like Admin Purps.

definitely think we should seriously look at a mid season trade period.

I could use a veteran mid bad right now.
Would love the trade talks right now haha but having a trade period in the middle of the year could get messy pretty quickly imo
And many teams who are out of it for the year (us) would go into full tank mode and give up a few stars in order to get better in the future.
Yep exactly. Which hurts the middle teams the most
but obviously if we ever had such a thing
it would still  be monitored probably like 2nd trade period Purps simply decides weather it passes or fails

that way no waiting times as most hate especially over a 3 week period and really think he could decide on a trade anytime he wants (i.e no waiting till end of week etc but when he feels like it)

but ofc it does create more things for purps to do
also if ever such a thing was to happen you'd have to delay the leadership group and team preference lists till after a trade period so ppl can change there's etc

but I'm just stating the bloody obvious now :P

Yup on all of those things.

I personally wouldn't like a mid-season trade period, but I see the merits and cons on both sides.

Coach Purps says
Mid season trades would make my year SOOO much more interesting! We're an old and failing bunch, and we could generate some excitement and even WXV activity with a trade period.

Admin Purps says
flower you coach Purps. It takes away some realism about having actual teams, and you even insinuated yourself that you'd trade your old players, probably to the premiership challenging teams, for young players which just encourages a lopsided second half of the year. Did you even think of the cap restrictions mid year? Yeah, you didn't, coz your arrogant, stupid and I flowering hate you. Get out.

2016 XVs Champions League

^^ Get about it! ^^

Also, with the bye rounds over the next weeks, we both have WXV Round 13 and the annual AAP Alliance v EurAsia clash. With the second half of the bye weeks requiring just the two coaches to take part, I was wondering whether the remaining coaches wanted to do something light-hearted during that game, or just wanted a week off?

For example, I was thinking about introducing this concept at the start of the year, but we could have a betting round/thread? That could be anything from the results of the EurAsia/AAP Alliance clash, or you could set up an exhibition match (which I'll happily host) and bet each other on those, or simply whether Zac Dawson will outscore Travis Cloke?

Thoughts?

Oh, bets wouldn't actually involve money lol, like I'm thinking personal profile pic bets, or making a user post nice things on an AFL team thread

We bet Nigey's position as co-coach of Karen that we can win a friendly against Dublin

Just a heads up, I have a feeling this comp will be in for a real treat later this year...

Stay tuned; for it shall be announced during the EurAsia v AAP Alliance clash!  :o

Another Dublin boy could be coming in soon.

Jack Silvagni with back to back 4 goal efforts is knocking down the door for selection.

The future is looking bright.
