Surely we have enough running half-backs instead of putting him back there?

Jroo

He won't play as a defender but may occasionally go down there. Cotch and Lids did last year.

I don't mind it. He's a beautiful kick so would suit the role.
I think 50% mid, 25% forward, 25% back is the way to go

Master Q

He'll still go missing in big games  :P

I thought winning the ball up front and kicking goals was his X-Factor.

His kicking is one of his biggest weapons. He can set up attacks from defence.

I think it's a great move, personally.

In my opinion as Q said he is the X factor up forward, and running offensively through the midfield but too many times he'd spend long quarters at FF doing absolutely nothing, and this is where he should be thrown back in those circumstances so he never stops and maintains his presence in the game at all times. He's one of Richmonds most important players so he needs that consistency.

No more of this 8 possession, 29 Supercoach games against Carlton anymore :P

Master Q

Dusty is one of Richmond's most important players, for sure. They aren't going anywhere if he continues to go missing in big games.

R1. 21 disposals, 1 goal.
R5 v Fremantle- 22 disposals, 1 goal, 6 tackles.
R6 v Geelong- 22 disposals, 2 goals
R9 v Essendon- 22 disposals, 1 goal
R10 v WCE (vital game)- 25 disposals, 1 goal
R15 v North- 23 disposals, 5 tackles. We got pumped by 10 goals.
R16 v Gold Coast- 31 disposals
R17 v Fremantle- 30 disposals, 1 goal
R18 v Sydney- 30 disposals, 2 goals
R19 v Hawthorn- 25 disposals, 1 goal

Yeah sure he didn't perform in the last two games against Carlton. Neither did the rest of the team.

^not an excuse. And you missed a few games  :P Round 4 v Collingwood would definitely be ranked more important than GC.

His disposal count is hardly spectacular. 36th in the league. Not something I would expect from someone who is rated as high as he is. And he is ranked in the mid-150s for contested possessions per game. Goal a game doesn't make up for that.

Dusty isn't a full-time mid though, so I think 36th isn't too bad. I'm sure most of the players ahead of him are full-time mids.
Yeah Dusty started as an inside mid but has now become more outside.

Probably because he's an outside mid.

Master Q, go and join Noz, tbag and all the other dusty haters somewhere else. He's a gun and you would LOVE him at Carlton.

Haha +1!

Mid-150's for contested possessions is probably pretty good for an outside mid :P
