NEW Brisbane Lions coach Justin Leppitsch is set to relieve Jonathan Brown of captaincy duties this season, with co-captain Jed Adcock to take over as sole skipper.

The move will be confirmed at a press conference this afternoon. Brown is understood to be supportive of the change.

Will be interesting to see if Rocky and Rich are still named joint VC's as well.

Interesting move. I guess it takes some more pressure off Browny in his last year, he probably didn't want the captaincy anymore.

Rich and Rocky would have to be the VCs.

I'm not a huge fan of the whole multiple captains thing. I think it should be just Adcock for now.

I am not a fan of Co Captains either BB unless it is in a transition period. (Adcock is still only 28 so can stamp his captaincy before transitioning to Rich or Rocky) But eagerly awaiting 12:30 to see.

Bit of a surprise though with the announcement:

"Adcock, who was last year inducted as a Life Member of the Club, will take the reigns as sole Captain having previously shared the captaincy duties with Jonathan Brown in 2013.

Midfielder Tom Rockliff was also unveiled as the Club's Vice-Captain, whilst Daniel Rich, Joel Patfull and Daniel Merrett will take up roles as Deputy Vice Captains."

So Rocky will be sole VC as well giving an indication of the succession plan.

Definitely think it will make things a bit easier for Browny in his last year. A bit surprised that Rocky is the sole VC, but happy with the decision.

As a Pies supporter I have always liked Merretts work off the ball and his organizing. Hope he is as good as Darryl White was as an defensive organizer...always rated Whitey.. 8)

Not sure on that Nate - If he has a good season injury free he may go on.  Bear in mind he is still only 32 much the same age as Nroo so he may play on.

Given the amount of time it took him to decide to play on this year, I find it very unlikely he will play on into 2015.

Reiwoldt is a bit better with movement, brownys like a 90 year old at his feet
