Hey guys second version of my team, first time on here! Feedback welcomed!

Def: McVeigh, Mitchell, Swallow, Suckling, Darley, McDonald (Laidler, Fuller)
Mid: Pendlebury, Selwood, Cotchin, Beams, Shuey, Martin, Michie, Polec (Dunstan, O'Rourke)
Ruc: Mumford, Sandilands (Thurlow, Nankervis)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Lamb, Fasolo, Kersten (Garlett, Taylor)
Salary: $171,000

Wondering if I hold salary or not? If not where do I use it?

BigMac93

Backline looks good except I have doubts over the JS of Darley and Laidler, I would trade one of them out for Kade Kolodjashnij from the Suns. David Swallow is a good contender to have a break out season this year, be sure to track his performance over the nab cup.

For your midfield I would change Shuey to Dale Thomas then upgrade one of Selwood or Cotchin to Ablett. Personally I just think it is too big of a risk to leave GAJ out given he is set to stay in the midfield at Gold Coast. Dale Thomas is also a bargain at his price and is on track to play round 1.

Mumford could be a good unique choice and he should get plenty of ruck time at GWS but I think given your salary you can upgrade to a Minson or Goldstein who have higher ceilings and both averaged 110+ last year. Sandilands a bargain and has had an injury interrupted pre season so a good pick there.

Forward line looks good but there are doubts about whether Fasolo and Kersten will be fit to play round 1. If fit Fasolo is a good choice and I will probably bring him in aswell.

If I was you I would use the salary to trade Mumfrod to Minson/Goldstein.

BigMac93

sorry I meant to say Sandilands has had an INJURY FREE pre season.

shaker

Probably would spend that left over cash in the forwards but overall a pretty good team

willsy13

Cheers big mac!

With laidler ive heard he will play first few games for alex johnson who did his acl..? If not then yeah KK or even battersby are options.

I find i interesting that people are going with thomas very injury prone but im watching his pre-season for now, his ankkle could pop at anytime. I love gaj but i think he is too pricey for the start of the year he has  a semi difficult draw. But he is deffinately been considered!

Ive got mummy averaging the same if not less than the two top rucks, but i wanna see if mummy is fit preseason becaus i agree hes riskky if he isnt!

I thought fasolo was fully fit?? Kersten whats up with him?

mpollock

Spend the money to turn Shuey into a real premium i reckon.

Otherwise team looks pretty solid mate.

Anthonyyyy

I like this team a lot considering you have 170k left over it looks reasonably strong

Swallow could have a break out season but if he doesn't look that strong in the nab cup upgrade straight away
Darley could be downgraded to KK for more cash

I like your midfield but you could downgrade Shuey to Thomas or upgrade him to a super premium but that is up too you!

Rucks are solid and like the pick of Mumford

This is where you need to use your cash and upgrade probably Lamb to someone like Josh Caddy or if you are looking cheaper Hogan or Clark but Lamb is looking like a genuine pick and I have seen him in a few team. I have never heard of him before though!

hope that helped

Ok I've done some thinking on Thomas...

He has missed almost a full season so he will take time to get up to afl speed, plus he will be wary of his ankle so he won't go 100%  for 4/5 rounds... All this put together he could average rookies scoring first 4-6 rounds, only to pick it up after that.
Or
He has one off game and starts to score 90-110

Then I looked into his stats, 2009: 74, 2010: 94, 2011: 110, 2012: 96
I see his averages increase when he exits fwd line where Buckley coached and then more mid time Malthouse helped coach... Then an increase again when he becomes a perminsnt midfielder. Then Buckley becomes coach and it drops 13 Pts, this was also when beams and Sidebottom became apart of the elite magpie midfield. Where does Buckley rate Thomas? Murphy would be number 1? Then Gibbs, Judd, Thomas? In what order, is there someone else Micky has?

But can we safely pick daisy in our Supercoach teams? It's just too hard to say he will play the whole season...

DEF D1 & D2 are perfect. D3-D5 you're hoping they all increase, im doing the same. Laidler will get games.
MID M1-M4 strong. Shuey is a nice choice too, i think he will improve 10-15.
RUC Mumford #1 at GWS will kill it. Sandi underpriced
FWD 3 premo is a tad light, Dusty to move to DEF

spend that coin mate... boost up your fwd's

Even though fwd line is not strong after F3 team may still score highly.
Backs: Good choices here so no problems
Mids: Concern here may be with selwood  dosen't look like he will play any NAB CUP games otherwise midfield is strong
Rucks: Great unique pick in Mumford will score highly.
Fwds: Drop away after F3 so see if you can find the money to get someone better than Hawkins.

Nice Team which should do well give it a 7.5/10

willsy13

Cheers mate,

I think my fwd line is solid.. First 3 guns I agree. Hawkins I think could go atleast 85 probably mid 90s if his back is better now.
I'm just wondering what you don't like about him? The risk factor is very similar to Thomas...
Give me you're take on it

willsy13

Ok Team V 4.0! Few Changes but im happy that hey made my team better!

Def: S.Mitchell, P.Hanley, K.Simpson, D.Swallow, M.Suckling, L.McDonald (J.Laidler, M.Fuller)
Mid: S.Pendlebury, J.Selwood, T.Cotchin, D.Beams, J.Martin, D.Tyson, V.Michie, L.Dunstan (J.Polec, J.O'Rourke)
Ruc: S.Mumford, A.Sandilands (F.Thurlow, T.Nankervis)
Fwd: P.Dangerfield, D.Martin, L.Franklin, L.Parker, T.Menzel, L.Taylor (S.Kersten, D.Garlett)
$26,600

My thoughts
Def: mitchell premium must have, hanley will go above the tone this year lock. Simpson is consistent wil average mid 90s which is what you want from defenders. Swallows extra midfield time should get his average to the 90s aswellplaying more midfield as nearly all teams top 3 mifielders average 90. Suckling will rise in cash aswell. The rookies cant judge yet.

Mids: Pendles best premo. Selwood top 3 premo. Cotchin will be back to super elite so around 120. Beams bargain. J.Martin just has to be similar to omeara. I think tyson is a steal, he could break out in the melbourne midfield because they dont have any go to players and i think he could be it.. could go 90s... Michie and Polec other players changing clubs so id say they could be very handy. Dunstan could fit the saints shallow midfield. O'rourke #2 draft pick has to play eventually. But im guessing.

Ruc: mumford i thing will bw an elite ruck with the extra work load he will recieve. Sandilands could go back to premium or sick to 90s juust hope he stays fit. Nankervis lock rookie. Thurlow could play with bellchambers out.

Fwd: Dangerfield will be elite martin and franklin should go mid 100s. L.Parker will start to play more midfield so imo he could break 100 if not mid to high 90s... menzel could be this years wingard if he gets midfield time, he kicked multiple goals in more than half his games with 10- 12 posessions, when he played mainly inside 50. He also was subbed a few games so is heavily underpriced. Rookieasseem to be the most likely to play in this position..

Reasoning behind 6 rookie mids is that they will generally be better scorers than the fwds and defenders.... Thoughts?

johnnytheboy1

Nice Team There could work out although i am not a fan of Menzel not sure whether he will take Betts position up forward and if so he might average 80.
Def:3  Strong premiums   good to see only one rookie defender.
Mids: Hope the 4 rookie midfielders work for you as most will have 3.
Rucks: I think mumford score better this year as he will have a heavier load at GWS and GWS midfield is improving.Sandi is arisk worth taking.
Fwds: Some unique ppicks that could pay off. Hopefully Taylor gets games early and avoids the Vest.Parker is a good pick even though i prefer Caddy.

Overall Well balanced team with a few unique pick some which may have a breakoutyear give it a 7.5/10

.
