I have been playing around with my team and honestly considering a ultra mid priced midfield of beams murphy carazzo thomas and savage ... think i am playing too much and need to settle it down a fraction

I think the forwards have a lot of good options in the 300k-rookie priced players and the back and rucks also have a lot of good mid priced options (but not stacked for rookies at the moment), so if you are willing to sacrifice the premos along those lines then I don't see a problem with it. Personally I think the only two forwards I would lock in are Danger and Wingard for the forwards then look at the cheaper guys and in terms of rucks and defenders I prefer the guys available under 500k.

see i dont trust the forward line players ... i have loaded up with danger martin dixon franklin darling and then 3 rookies ... wingard? dont rate him at that price

Wingard is a star. The way he plays is suited to SC and what he was able to do in his second season was pretty special. I would actually prefer him over Martin if I had to pick one

I am not a fan of Darling for SC out of those guys, Dixon if he puts a full season together is a good pick, but that is because he moves into the ruck and picks up some points there. Darling is more a stay at home forward and I try and stay away from those sort of guys

darling will not be a stay at home forward this season mate ... he can not take an overhead mark body to body ... simpson will have him running up the ground(training with midfield) and doubling back ... in saying that i just moved him out of my side and have got zorko in ...

we will have to wait and see with wingard but at those prices i am much more comfy with martin than wingard ...

i will add i had wingard all last season basically and got traded out late to barlow

Even if he builds up his tank and moves up the ground it is to create space back towards goal and not play as a mid around the stoppages or as a second ruck. The points come in the hitouts or the possessions. That is where guys like Buddy, Roughy, Dixon etc. have scored most of theirs. Unless you see Darling have high possession numbers or being in contention for the Coleman his price is too high and there are better options around since he is too expensive to be someone you look at as a steppingstone to a premium. You would want him more as a keeper and I personally don't see him as one right now for what he brings to the table. I'll use JJ Kennedy as an example. Last season he was in contention for the Coleman  and his huge goal tally compensated for his lack of touches. He did average 15th out of the 'current' crop of forwards (not including Walker, SJ, Bartel and co.). Now the reason it was worth getting JJ into your side is that he was only priced in the 300's whereas Darling is in the 400's.  I don't see him as a top 10 forward so being around 400k you want someone that is going to break out to average 100+ or at least close too. If you don't see that happening I think you made the right move getting Darling out.

i think there is genuinely some chance he could play midfield for considerable amount of time ... he is essentially the exact same size as mundy ... but prob lacks skill level of a mundy although this preseason both his tank and skills have been a main focus ... for now i am not picking him though :)

Yeah I think someone else brought him up earlier, Holz maybe. He is one to consider for sure.

If he can get you to the round 9 bye without any injury hiccups, you will be able to turn him into say Selwood or another round 8 premium that has dropped in price. The only downside with Carrots is he has had a couple of injury issues the last few years, but if he is good to go round 1 you know he is going to start in the middle most weeks and score you 80-120 which is what you want from a mid 300k guy.

I currently have Beams, Murphy, Thomas and Savage

dmac07

Currently have ablett, pendles, watson, beams, thomas, beams, michie, ellis (morabito, honeychurch).

Murphy worries me as he is likely to get heavy tags again. My downside to having all three would be it means more upgrades needed in the long run, beams may be a keeper but the other two arent, if you just have two real guns thats perhaps six upgrades/12 trades to finish the mids. Thats my reason for taking 3 top preiums and two out of the 3 others.

Can't rule out the possibility of Murphy becoming a keeper once again. 4 years of 111+ average before last year, I understand the tagging issue but if he gets passed that, he is without doubt a keeper. a much better pre season this year should help, 112.9, 111.9, 118.0, 112.7....gets back to that sort of form he will make a good M7 or M8 come years end

Toga

I reckon the inclusion of Daisy will help Murphy get back to his way as well. Might mean he gets a bit less attention?

Bully

I have all three, Murphy & Beams should be keepers and Thomas will make a nice little cash cow. I'm tinkering with my side at the moment and looking for ways to squeeze in Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin, Murphy, Beams & Thomas into the midfield.

Jimmykidd

Ablett, Pendles, Murphy, Beams & Thomas. Locked midfield for me.

i think the only way u can do this without really hurting one of your other lines is having hmac sandi combo ... thoughts?

I really wanna start Murphy.

I think you should
Hmmm I don't know man, hopefully I get some sort of positive indication in the preseason that sways me. Will he break the tag? :-[
