I have all three, Murphy & Beams should be keepers and Thomas will make a nice little cash cow. I'm tinkering with my side at the moment and looking for ways to squeeze in Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin, Murphy, Beams & Thomas into the midfield.

i think the only way u can do this without really hurting one of your other lines is having hmac sandi combo ... thoughts?

Not quite, the forwards will be weaker but there's some value there with mid-pricers.

Team currently is -

Backs - McVeigh. Mitchell, Hurn, Suckling, McDonald, Fuller ( Cutler, Battersby)
Mids - Ablett, Pendlebury, Cotchin, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, Michie, Morabito (Gordon, Gray)
Rucks - Naitanui, Sandilands (Thurlow, Brown)
Forwards - Dangerfiled, Martin, Franklin, Higgins, Walker, Clark (Kennedy-Harris, Impey)

$9,400 remaining

If Tex doesn't make it, then I may downgade to Bock and upgrade either Higgins or Clark to Hawkins. Rookies can also be tweaked after NAB Cup.

On Jack Martin, tough call to leave him out but to pick him would be breaking a golden rule when it comes to first year players.

well i would say then yes u are definitely weakening other lines as i was saying ... 2 rookie backs is clear evidence of that at this stage ... i think all supercoachers will be licking their lips if we can start 2 of fuller mcdonald or kolo on the field ,,,, love your pick of hurn btw mate, really think he is in for a big year despite what these other people are talking is really looking good this preseason ... i guess we are all waiting to see if walker gets up as well as clark

i think you have a good side if what you are anticipating actually comes to head ... nice job

True about rookie exposure, but I'm banking on a couple emerging from the NAB Cup, if so then I will probably fly with a midfield heavy structure. I think with the forwards, we'll see some bargains emerge from the pool of Bock, Walker, Higgins, Clark, Hawkins and Fasolo.

True about rookie exposure, I'm certainly banking on McDonald bursting out of the blocks, and if Fuller doesn't make it then hopefully some others stake a claim. My team will probably change 100 times before the start of the season, although I'm following my gut with the mid-priced forwards this year. Between Higgins, Clark, Walker, Hawkins, Bock & Fasolo, I think there's some bargains to be had.

2/3 here, can't bring myself to bring too much risk in. There are safer options if you look hard enough.

Who's the risky one?

Trindacut

They all are. At the moment I haven't got Thomas in, but I could very easily not have Murphy either. Looking at O'Meara instead.

I'd be surprised if O'Meara outscores Murphy, he'd probably have to score 110+

You think O'Meara isn't capable of that? :)

2nd year player jumping 20 points, it's a big call, and it's also assuming Murphy won't return to a 115+ average.

Hmmm I don't know man, hopefully I get some sort of positive indication in the preseason that sways me. Will he break the tag? :-[

The only thing Carlton will be looking to do with Murph is get him unscathed through the pre-season. They mean nothing for the older blokes and it is just a chance to get some run into the legs. You won't see anything about tags effecting him in these games, the only thing I would monitor is where he plays the majority of the time (how much time he spends up forward)

What does everyone think with less than a week out from the season? Too risky starting with all 3 of these guys?

Only Beams for me.
Not convinced on Murphy taking a spot for someone who can generate a lot more cash or a super premo.
I just don't think Thomas will be worth the investment. How many people really think he will average over 100?
Preferred the cash for a 4+suckling Backline and 4 premo forward line.

I have Beams and Murphy atm. Mids are currently:
Ablett, Watson, Rockliff, Murphy, Beams, Tyson, Michie, Polec (Ellis, Dunstan)

Was going to go with Daisy instea. Of Tyson or Watson but think it Just looks better this way :)

Ramus

I still have all three, mids are Ablett, Pendlebury, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, Michie, Polec, Ellis (Dunstan, TBC - currently Cunningham).

And yes, I currently have H-Mac/Sandi combo (Derickx, Thurlow), but I don't think this is due to the inclusion of the three in question.

I have looked to ensure my forwards and defenders aren't under the pump from the start with too many rookies as I feel that caused my slow start last year, I currently have;

McVeigh, S.Mitchell, Hanley, Pittard, Suckling, McDonald (Langford/Georgiou)
Dangerfield, Martin, T,Mitchell, Hale, Caddy, Rohan (JKH, Impey)

I feel I have managed a good even spread for the start of this year, and have around 130K spare, not sure spending this to bring in Lobbe/Jacobs is really worth the extra cash over H-Mac?

Cheers :)
