GEELONGS big-man stocks are looking up with ruckman Dawson Simpson and Hamish McIntosh eyeing potential round one jumpers.

Cats midfielder Mitch Duncan said both were training well and his side could consider playing both if each was up and running throughout 2014.

Vinny

Thats not good for HMacs scoring, only would consider HMac if he is rucking alone.

I think the most interesting one (albeit, least fantasy relevant) is Blicavs... looked pretty good last year and  performed more than adequetly, especially for someone who'd only played 4 games of VFL in 2012. His aerobic running ability does mean he can play in the mids... geelong expect him to be better this year with another preseason/ development of an AFL body...

how does he fit in?

Toga

That's a good question Zip, and I honestly have no idea lol :P

Surely if Vardy is playing up forwards, only two of Hmac / Simpson / Blicavs can play?

Although if he compares well enough against the other midfielders Blics can probably hold a position there as well... Just seems like too many rucks though!

Yeah I would think so too mate, only three out of the four could play and that's pushing it a little bit too. I think only one of Simpson/Hmac will play otherwise they'll be very immobile and quite slow and big. Will be a tough dilemma for Chris Scott to deal with.

well, blicavs strong point is his mobility for a big guy.

What, if they had like Vardy, Hawkins the resting ruck up forward, another ruck then blicavs on the wing or something? I dunno :/

I only think you can go with Vardy and Hawkins up front because one of Walker or Kersten would be up front too, so then you'd have four big forwards.

I don't know if Blicavs would get a game over a mid even given his mobility an height. I'd choose Simpson/Hmac/Vardy I reckon.

I'm quite keen to see how Geelong do in fact handle the situation with their big guys.

The interchange cap is definitely going to make it interesting.

Other teams like the Tiges with guys such as Maric, Hampson, McBean, Vickery might have the same problem.

In Richmonds case, surely Mcbean won't make the cut to begin with?

Been training strongly and has impressed to date, will push for R1 selection imo.

Would have got a game or two at the end of last season had he not gone down with an injury.

Yeah I knew that, but surely with Hampson coming across that pushes him down the pecking order again?

I think if Blicca is in form they'll play him as a tall wing man. He will also play a kick behind play and could be very useful.

Hm, could be a good point mate, I'm not so sure though. Is he that mobile? I didn't take much notice of him this year.

bunyip

Yer, I think he is. I hope they (the coaches) find a place for him, I think he adds something to the team.
