Who should I get rid of Michie, Tyson, Morabito, Sheed, Dunston, and who would I see to free up the cash?

First Q easy, Morabito for sure is the least likely to be in round 1. That said if he is I'll pick him up... As for second question, I assume you mean who you should sell, that's tough. Personally I son't have the faith in Swallow that many others do so I would say him, but then your only real DG option is KKolo which you seem to have avoided...

hoon1

Yeah I only avoided Kolo due to his price and not wanting to start 2 rookies in defence. Swallow I don't fully trust either I was tossing up between him and Duffield which are both similarly priced. So to upgrade Morabito I would need about 100k so the only other options would be to downgrade Selwood or Nic Nat.

Selwood to Watson and Michie to matt crouch would get me there.
Or Selwood to Watson and Nic Nat to Lobbe would go close.

Only issue being that I like selwood and Michie, and Nic Nats at a good price but no guarantee for round 1

I'm just reprinting my team this third page so that you don't need to keep going back pages to look at it

Def: McVeigh, Mitchell, Simpson, Swallow, Suckling, McDonald (Fuller, Battersby)

Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, J.Selwood, Beams, Thomas, Tyson, Michie, Morabito (Sheed, Dunstan)

Ruck: Naitanui, Sandilands (Nankervis, Brown)

For: Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Clark, Hogan, Kersten (JKH, Garlett)

Money Remaining: $5,000

Byes: Round 8 (10), Round 9 (9), Round 10 (11)

I doubt M.Crouch will be named. I actually see no problem with 2 rookie backs in McDonald and K.Kolo on field, though I've recently adjusted my team so only 1 is - but I still have both. Lobbe getting plenty of love, would NicNat to Lobbe afford you Morabito to JMart? I would still rather have NicNat personally... Just a note that GAJ, Pendles, Jelwood and Beams are all round 8 byes, so your midfield is extremely weak then. All good players for sure but I would consider that in your planning and downgrade probably Selwood. Watson could be a goer though I'm avoiding him. Rocky?

hoon1

I could do this instead:

Def: McVeigh, Mitchell, Simpson, Swallow, Suckling, McDonald (Fuller, Battersby)

Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Rockliff, Beams, Thomas, Martin, Tyson, Michie (Taylor, Dunstan)

Ruck: Naitanui, Sandilands (Nankervis, Brown)

For: Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Clark, Hogan, Kersten (JKH, Garlett)

Money Remaining: $600

Byes: Round 8 (9), Round 9 (8), Round 10 (13)

The changes are:

Selwood to Rockliff
Dunstan to Martin
Morabito to Lewis Taylor

Most of the round 10 bye people are cash cows that will most likely be ready to sell around their bye so I'm not too worried about the surplus of them.

What are your thoughts on these changes?

johnnytheboy1

Your team is pretty strong and you haven't lost much when making those changes.
Def: I don't find any problems here good to see Suckling at D5 rather than at D4
Mids:Good strong Midfield with 4 top premiums and a potential premium in Thomas. Rookies will sort themselves out. Only problem round 8 byes to  4 of your premiums
Rucks: Both risky in my opinion better of downgrading nic nat to someone like Lobbe.
Fwds: Its good enough Hogan had an injury scare not that long ago.

The only problem i have with this team is the midfield as in round 8 you will lose your league matches but overall i give it a 7.5/10

Def: imo i thinj that its worth going 3 grand to hanley from kade simp 8 pt difference... Battersby will more than likely not be called upon crouch, and ellis-yoleman will get the rookie call before him. Other picks are the normal, very solid.
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Rockliff, Beams brilliant. Ugh i dont want to get burnt by thomas (so i wont pick him) hopefully it works for you! All rookies are great, i think Taylor should be thrown down forward for either kersten or jkh because of price increase potential.
Ruc: good r1 and 2, f.thurlow could be a better rookie option.
Fwd: first 3 are normal, bloody good! Clark will get 80+ if fit. Hogan priced too highly for 65 average to me. Solid rookies should all play.

Solid looking team
Rate : 7.5

Point taken Johnny, however only 3 prems in the mid have the round 8 bye, ablett, pendles and beams unless you were including martin. In this case by round 8 you are going to be wanting to make trades and if worst comes to worst I have taylor as a dpp and plently of forwards who are mids.
Lobbe is good but im not convinced on him even though he has the no.1 spot at port, he is a solid player who will churn out consistent scores but would rather go for a proven high scorer to pair with the wildcard in sandi, would rather go for mcevoy or mumford over him but I will keep a close eye on nic nat in the late nab to see how he is tracking and he has so much upside.
On Hogan im an avid dees supporter and it was just that, a scare :) is expected to be back in full training next week and has been even running laps this weeks without a knee bandage. In addition he has a huge work rate and can get the ball on the ground so I think he should cover 65 fairly easily and especially if we can get dawes and clark fit and he gets the third tall defender. Think jack darling.
Thanks though Johnnytheboy1 for the comments

Willsy13 thank you also and you are most likely right on battersby and I will be waiting to fully assess rookies after I have seen them in action in the NAB cup. From there and the round 1 team line ups I will be able to ultimately choose the right bench players

DEF super strong, swallow to improve with more mid time.
MID GAJ/pendles VERY nice, Rocky/beams/daisy to improve.
RUC standard (1 premo & sandi), solid.
FWD a tad light here... 3 premos. clarke risky. Hogan injury??

check out & rate my team

hoon1

Thanks Keeper. Hogan is fine after his knee scare and will be back in full training next week. Clark is risky but has tremendous upside and if his not playing round one higgins, lamb and bock are around the same price and could easily be subbed in

hoon1

I thought I would have a fiddle with my team to strengthen my forwards and to avoid nic nat until he has proven he is over his injuries. Let me know what you think.

Def: McVeigh, Mitchell, Grimes, Swallow, Suckling, McDonald (Fuller, Cutler)
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, Martin, Michie, Ellis (Taylor, Dunstan)
Ruck: McEvoy, Sandilands (Nankervis, Thurlow)
For: Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Gunston, Clark, Kersten (JKH, Garlett)

Money Remaining: $800

Byes: Round 8 (9), Round 9 (8 ), Round 10 (13)

I am looking at a possible 15 keepers with only 3 first year players on the field plus michie who has played 1 game. I am debating between gunston and zorko too so would love to hear some opinions.
Please post your thoughts or ratings.
Cheers

I like your team mate, like it a lot.

DEF: McVeigh and Mitchell will surely be in the top 6 defenders. I think Grimes at D3 is a bit weak would rather see him at D4 and then upgrade Swallow to S Thompson, Hibberd, Hanley, Simpson or Birchall.

MID: Looks great. Wouldn't change a thing.

RUC: If Nic Nat is named round 1 then I would bring him in for McEvoy as he will score much better than Big Boy. West Coast won't play Nic Nat unless he's good to go. From all reports he is training strongly too.

FWD: Great looking forward line. Aside from rookies, it is identical to mine.

Very solid team. I give it a 9/10.

johnnytheboy1

The Only thing i don't like from this team is Mcevoy whose hit out to advantage is vey poor and is why he dosen't score very highly compared to Goldstein & Minson.
Backs: Strong with only the one 1 rookie
Mids: 3 good Rookies here and excellecent premiums. Murrphy is a bargain at his price,so is Beams
Rucks is your weak point Prefer Leuey here
Fwds: Strengthened since your last team.

I give this team an 8/10

hoon1

How about this team then with some tinkering:

Def: McVeigh, Mitchell, McKenzie, Swallow, Suckling, McDonald (Fuller, Cutler)
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Murphy, Beams, Thomas, Martin, Michie, Ellis (Taylor, Dunstan)
Ruck: Lobbe, Sandilands (Nankervis, Thurlow)
For: Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Gunston, Clark, Garlett (JKH, Honeychurch)

Money Remaining: $5,100

Byes: Round 8 (9), Round 9 (10 ), Round 10 (11)

Thats:
Grimes to McKenzie
McEvoy to Lobbe
Kersten to Honeychurch

The only other way to get a quality ruck is to change gunston to pav, what are the thoughts on this move

hoon1

Essentially comes to:

Pav, Grimes, Nic Nat or Gunston, McKenzie, Lobbe
