So many people are considering making a team especially for round 1, then changing it to their 'proper' team come round 2 to make the most out of unlimited trades. Now generally this means adding a few more sydney players, or maybe Steven or St Nick into your team, but what about the rucks? Which ruckman do you think will perform best in round 1?
We've got
Grundy vs Sandi = Sandi+Griffen should be able to win comfortably and get decent points surely.
Pyke vs Mumford = Should be quite even in the ruck department, mumford should score well.
Nicolls vs Maric = an interesting one, Maric is quite a big bloke and we have such a small sample of scores from Nicolls it's hard to see either doing exceptionally well.
Kreuzer vs Lobbe = quite an even ruck battle, both should score well.
Hmac/Simpson/Blicavs vs Jacobs = if Hmac and Simpson aren't ready then maybe jacobs becomes a valid option?
Goldy vs Ryder = goldy will do as he usually does.
Mcevoy vs Leuey = even, Leuey should win.
Longer/Hickey vs Jamar = The battle I am interested in hearing your opinions on most. Jamar is only 370k and scored 106 last year against GWS who probably had the weakest ruck department last year. Jamar got above 25 hitouts in every game he played last year, maxing out at 44 HO. In 2012 he got massive hit out numbers in a few games (45, 46, 55, 40, 46, 40 and 35), surely he will smash the saints ruckman and get 40+ HO? Chuck in 10 or 15 disposals and a goal and he could be on his way to quite a good score for his price.
Cox/Nic Nat vs Minson = everyone should score well here.

bolded the problem
look at ZClarke's scores when Sandi played (or Sandi when ZClarke played) and they're not too flash, despite the relatively inexperienced ruckman that is Grundy

rd15 vs StKilda: ZClarke 57, Sandi 35 (Sandi's return, red vested)
rd16 vs WestCoast: ZClarke 41, Sandi 53
rd17 vs Richmond: ZClarke 81, Sandi DNP
rd18 vs Adelaide: ZClarke 65, Sandi 62
rd19 vs Carlton: ZClarke 77, Sandi 80
rd20 vs GWS: ZClarke 103, Sandi 40
rd21 vs Dees: ZClarke 116, Sandi 15 (Sandi concussion sub)
rd22 vs Port: ZClarke 105, Sandi DNP
rd23 vs StKilda: ZClarke DNP, Sandi 62

I think it'll be 70s at best - which is my concern about picking Sandi anyway, but 250k is too cheap to ignore

But you forgot
Fw1 vs Geelong: ZClarke 78, Sandi 112
fw3 vs Sydney: ZClarke 76, Sandi 105
GF: vs Hawthorn, ZClarke 37, Sandi 125

Sandi can function perfectly fine in a team with Clarke.

And the start of last year before he got injured...
RD1 Sandi 90 Clarke 73
RD2 Sandi 124 Clarke 76
RD3 Sandi 103 Clarke 66
RD4 Sandi 122 Clarke 86
RD7 Sandi 96 Clarke 107
RD8 Sandi 79 Clarke 70
RD9 Sandi 84 Clarke 61
RD10 Sandi 113 Clarke 37

I agree I wouldn't go both Sandi and ZClarke/Griff but I wouldn't be too worried about Sandi's scoring coming of an injury free preseason

finals weren't quite that good for the pair - they're SC scores?

DT scores paint a different picture however
vs Geelong FW1: ZClarke 65, Sandi 75
vs Sydney FW3: ZClarke 69, Sandi 77
vs Hawthorn GF: ZClarke 31, Sandi 79
i'm not convinced about his big scores, but I'll still be starting him as R2 (even if he probably won't stay there)

that's the problem with Freo for me, if they play one ruck (and leave themselves woefully short up forward) then he'll see big scores, but for the benefit of the team, they play 2 and both see 70s

Ah shower, thought this was on the SC board. Sorry.
