RICHMOND is bound for a big 2014 if results on the training track in January are anything to go by.

The Tigers have hit the track running in the new year as they seek to atone for an early finals exit last season.

"This is my 11th pre-season and I've never seen a group come back as a collective as fit as they have, both after the long break and after the recent Christmas break," 2013 best-and-fairest winner Daniel Jackson said.

"The fitness testing, the scores, the training standards is far beyond anything I've ever seen."

Meanwhile, exciting young ruck-forward Liam McBean is aiming to play in Round 1 after his likely debut late last year was derailed by an ankle injury.

McBean, who kicked 37 goals in 14 VFL games in 2013, is set to return to the main training group as he completes his rehab.

For the first time I think the Blues should be intimidated for Round 2. (Should be Round 1) >:(

Daniel Jackson - has played for a showerty Richmond like his entire career. "Best I've ever seen"

That's like getting excited about a Jack Trengove saying "this 2014 team is the best I've ever played in, in the AFL"

Nah it's not really.. Considering we finished 5th last year then it's pretty exciting if we've gone up another few levels again.

In saying that, every player/coach says this every pre season. Even the showerty lions probably think they are flying  ::)

Haha you make a good point everyone seems to destroying the preseason and everyone is set for a big year.

Maybe we will be able to run out a game against the Blues now.

Lions will beat Richmond this year. Rocky will out do Cotchspud, Redden is better than Deledio, Zorko is better than martin, Raines is better than Jackson and Luey is better than Maric.

Mailman the 2nd

While doing well in preseason training should more or less be taken with a grain of salt (especially coming from someone inside the club), it's more or less crazy to be talking the Lions above Richmond lol
