Just bored again, but was thinking about days in life that have you'll always remember for one reason or another. The thing being ,most people remember their wedding day, the birth of their children, passing of loved one,s their first ....., ;D, etc-etc. What I want to know is, 5 events that you know exactly what you were doing and where you were. No doubt this will vary on our age, but my 5 are-

1--2004 Grand Final 8)
2--9-11
3--Princess Diana's passing
4--Elvis's passing
5--Moon landing ( I was only 8 or 9, so a bit murky )

Ah I like this! Good idea dudge. No surprise that most of mine are sporting events and not really "life events" but  I couldn't give a toss about anything else enough to remember  ;D I'd probably say

1. 1995 semi final Richmond vs Essendon, I was only about 6 years old but I remember the game clearly and the atmosphere. We came back from 5 or 6 goals down and because we were sitting at the punt road end just under the terrace the roar was deafening and at one point my dad jumped up as we kicked a goal and actually nearly fainted from the rush of blood to he head and noise

2. 9/11- I was about 13 and my mum woke me up to tell me and I remember thinking "who cares" not grasping how big of a deal it was until I turned on the TV

3. 2001 grandfinal - I remember all the grand finals but this one sticks in my head because my aunty decided to have her wedding on this day and I remember there were a bunch of people with ear phones in and ducking out to the car to hear the scores. Who the hell gets married on grandfinal day!

4. November 2005 when Australia defeated Uraguay to qualify for the World Cup. Had never had a major interest in soccer until that day, whole family were running around the lounge room after we won the penalty shoot out.

5. Round 6 2007 When Richmond lost to Geelong by 157 points  :'( I remember getting to the game a bit late and having a glance at the scoreboard as I got in the gates and we were a goal or 2 down at the start of the game, then I went up the ramp and walked around the ground with no view of the game for a few minutes while I got to my seat. By the time I got to my seat they had piled on about 6 goals already. I couldn't believe it and then I sat there and watched the worst game of football of my life haha

3. Space Shuttle Challenger disaster....space program big time failure
4. IRA cease fire in Northern Ireland.....was just so long in coming
5.  "a draw" between the 2010 premiership game or the 1990 premiership game....just so gooooooddd.. ;D..get it?..a draw?

1. The Americas cup in 1983 I remember watching it before school in the morning

2. 9/11 I actually just missed the initial reports by a few minutes as I had gone to bed (5am start) I got to work and walked in and was greeted with "did you see the plane hit the building in America" I was like no when did that happen he turned the tv on and there it was.We also happened to be watching when the 2nd plane hit later on my oldest son was
3yrs old at the time and he still remembers now seeing the news stories from then

3.1992 Grand Final I actually did get to see it as I was working at the Perth Royal Show that day.I remember driving there and the roads were almost completely empty your could have landed a plane on just about any street lol

4.1994 Grand Final again missed it as my other halfs cousin stupidly got married this day.We were sitting in the church and all everyone was thinking is whats the footy score who won.Question answered as soon as we walked out of the wedding as the church was in Freo and by then the GF was over and people were running riot everywhere and hanging out of cars etc

5.2006 Grand Final party at our house with most of our family and friends pig on the spit, drinking etc. Those final moments before the siren were the worse but when it went the whole lot of us just jumped up and we were hugging each other. The rest of that day everyone was on a high and we had a great party that spilled out to the front yard for awhile yelling Go Eagles at cars driving by.The boys decided a game of footy in the middle of the street was the go even tho our street isn`t exactly quiet lol

Love the thread but a bit hard to limit to 5 days you can not forget

1. 2002 Premiership at the G - First time attending a GF but it was cold wet and windy. The great comeback by the Lions to win 75 - 66. Akermanis's over the shoulder kick to stretch the lead was great and Voss's last quarter was outstanding when it counted and had the Norm Smith been voted after game am sure that Voss would have won over Buckley. Will never forget that experience

2. Death of Lady Dianna - Was reported initially as injured in a car crash but as the news filtered in was obvious a lot more serious.

3. 9/11 which we all can remember - Like most happened early in morning Aus time and we woke up to the News and promptly tuned in to live coverage.

4. Would not be a true Aussie if you did not put winning the Americas Cup in 1983 as an unforgettable moment,  Especially after a number of unsuccesful changes prior. The 1983 challenge was Allan Bond's forth attempt. Was great to be an Aussie as the final race was another early morning race and then the famous words of PM Bob Hawke "Any Boss who sacks an employee for being late or not turning up is a bum",
Australia came back from 3/1 down to win 4/3, Remember saying here we go again after equipment failure cost us the first 2 races. So Usa was defeated after 132 years. Australia also beat the protests lodged by the New York Cruising Yacht club.

5. Kangaroos (who I followed prior to Brisbane) Win in 1977 Grand Final replay against Collingwood after the original GF was drawn.

Unlucky ommissions from Top 5
Moon landing  (1969) I was in Grade 12 at the time,
Elvis death,
Challenger and Apollo Disasters
Attending the Gabba Tied Test in 1961 with my father.
and of course Brisbanes other 2 GF's in 2001 and 2003.
and the other major sporting event Qld winning their first ever Sheffield Shield in94/95
First State of Origin in 1980
