Nathan van Berlo has had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles Tendon.

Van Berlo, 27, ruptured his right Achilles Tendon in a speed drill at training on Monday. The Adelaide captain had surgery on Monday afternoon and will be sidelined for at least three months.

Noz

Rumours saying he could miss the entire season.

Mr.Craig

Matt Crouch's stocks just rose a bit.

Just read this before, that really sucks

He could be out for 3-12 months.
He's definitely not Adelaide's most important player, but they'd want him back in the side.
Does Danger get the captaincy while NVB is out? Surely he's next in line?

I hope not, has got to be danger or sloane! I only thought van berlo had one year left as captain anyway

I think Thompson is still their only vice captain?

He was the vice-captain last season, i don't think the leadership squad has been announced yet for 2014. In my opinion Van Berlo had one more year as captain before the role needed to be passed on to the next generation. So for me, Van Berlo now steps down, Danger steps up as captain and Sloane becomes the vice captain.

Bad luck VB, he'll be missed but it opens the door for this guy

Sammy Kerridge, hopefully he gets the go in the midfield rotations now and the best option for replacing VB's role on field

Make Sloaney Captain ;D

"Initially we thought VB just had a cut near his Achilles ... but surgery revealed a complete rupture." Dr Potter

Dr Potter expects VB to be running by 3 months & back into footy work by six but all the time frames are 'fluid'

"I wouldn't put a line through Nathan this season."

"It was an impact injury. Nathan was struck in the leg by a weighted sled in a speed drill."

"I spoke to Nathan last night and he's in good spirits. He has a great positive attitude."

"The most important thing is to go slowly and let it repair properly."

"We would hope Nathan is playing footy by August, but we're in the very early stages."

The Freak

I think 3 months is very optimistic. If you look at Kobe Bryant in the NBA, he had the same injury and he'd be lucky to get on court this year. VB would be best sitting out the year and allowing the Achilles to heal slowly and properly. Bryant has tried to come back early and endured more setbacks.

Yeah it's not going to be 3 months, probably 6-12.

5AA and it seems the Dangerman is the flavour of Captain. Please no AFC! Not until he learns to play a team game, selfish bighead ;)

Sloaney is the man 8)
