Mitchell, Hanley, Swallow, Suckling, Kolodjashnij, McDonald (Fuller, Curran*)

Pendlebury, Fyfe, Cotchin, Beams, Thomas, Martin, Michie, Ellis (Dunstan, Gartlett)

Lobbe, Sandilands (Longer, Apeness)

Dangerfield, Martin, Dixon, Watts, Caddy, Clark (Kersten, Taylor)

$23,000

Backs: Pretty similar. Curran I'm looking at using as my floating donut and a DPP link with watts. Can then swing watts between fwds and def for cover.

Mids: After some research I'm really liking Cotchin at the moment. Got him in over Selwood as I'm not sure how he will go with the new ducking rule. Dropped a midfield premium. Michie in. Gartlett a DPP link with the forwards.

Rucks: Starting rucks the same. Longer at R3 goes against everything I've said about that so far this preseason. Got him at the moment just because I'm not sure who else will get a game. Could easily go to a rookie and pocket the cash. Apeness a DPP link with Dixon, and a slim chance to play.

Forwards: similar again except for watts with reasons stated earlier. Dixon may be redundant with longer.

Possibility is downgrading longer to a rookie, and bring in Docherty down back who I am really liking if he is able to crack into the blues best 22

i am just hoping i can field 2 starting rookies come the start of the season

the floating option isnt a bad idea because defence rookies do indeed look light but i am just not unsure about picking watts mate even though he could flourish under roos

supercoach loves cotchin :)

longer as a ruck bench option i think is a waste personally particulary if u are gonna run with apeness in the bench rucks and have your link with dixon ... go longer to nankervis and pocket the cash .... if someone doesnt play in the ruck u simply have to swap dixon in and ya set again ... (but if u wanna be extra careful then by all means your choice)
im crazily starting to flirt with the idea of picking longer/grundy/mcintosh/simpson as r1and r2 :/ (tell me to not be stupid) but just not comfy having such weak forwards at d4 and d5

im still not sure on caddy mate just think he is fringe at cats :/

I don't think I was ever seriously considering having longer at R3, I've been saying all preseason how it's such a waste of cash, especially with Dixon as DPP back up. Just had the cash and at the time couldn't find a use to just decided to get longer haha. Still finding a way to spend that extra $165K.

Still flirting with the idea of watts, but not locked in by any means. May use the cash from longer to upgrade him to a McVeigh or something.

I'm sticking by caddy mate haha we will see who is right by seasons end ;)

I gotta disagree here buddy, I had Cotchin all last season and frankly, he was a disappointment. Struggled with the tag.  Selwood on the other hand excelled and increased his SC avg.  He was rarely tag affected, and won't be affected by the "ducking rule".  Selwood is simply the hardest at the ball and the rules are there to protect such players. Rant complete ; )

fair call DCAK. I do agree Cotchin under performed last year, but really think he can bounce back this season, I think he is a bargain at his price. As for Selwood, I love the guy and how he plays, but the new rules scared me off him a little. Still in consideration, but just seeing how my team looks without him.

Hi Benno123

Like this team across most lines except up forward where you don't have a rookie on the field i believe to save money i would downgrade Clark as he is injury prone to Ben Lennon who should get early games. Watts may improve under a new coach but he can be inconsistent let alot of SUPERCOACH teams down last year. I would your team an 8/10

benno123

Thanks for the feedback guys, really appreciate it. Will make sure to take a look at all your teams at some stage :)

Mitchell, Hanley, Swallow, Suckling, Kolodjashnij, McDonald (Kolodjashnij, Fuller)

Pendlebury, Fyfe, Murphy, Beams, Shuey, Thomas, Martin, Michie (Dunstan, Gartlett)

Lobbe, Sandilands (Brown, Nankervis)

Dangerfield, Martin, Dixon, Hawkins, Caddy, Clark (Kersten, Taylor)

$6,500

Ringo

Think you are still a little light on defence and superstrong in forwards.  I would look at downgrading Caddy to Lennon and getting in another prem defender.  Also should have enough cash to upgrade Murphy as well as I do not like Murphy at M3, He is better suited to M4.

johnnytheboy1

I think You Should Downgrade one of Hawkins or Caddy as you don't need 2 Cats up forward to Ben Lennon then look at Strengthening your Mids get Watson in instead of Murphy
Apart from that you have a decent team i suppose ringo does have a point in regards to your defence but you would to make a few downgrades in other areas to get the player you need.

I give that team an 8/10

benno123

Thanks guys, agree I need another super premium at M2/3, but I'm just seeing so much potential value with a lot of players, making it hard to decided to to keep and cut, will give it more thought, cheers :)

ben lennon has been in and out of my side all pre season, is there a reason why he is being talked up a bit in last few days?

i must admit i find it hard him cracking the best 22 ... quite a solid team really

He was named in the Herald Sun's "best 22" for Richmond a few days ago which could be the reason. There have also been whispers that he has been very impressive on the training track thus far.
