My Chumps

Just messing around with the team at the moment. Not sure if I'd actually have the balls to go with this side but it's an interesting thought.

Salary cap left: $3,300.

Sam Mitchell, Pearce Hanley, Jack Grimes, David Swallow, Matt Suckling, Kade Kolodjashnij
Matthew Fuller, Luke McDonald

Scott Pendlebury, Trent Cotchin, Marc Murphy, Dayne Beams, Dale Thomas, Jack Martin, Dom Tyson, Jonothon O'Rourke
Luke Dunstan, Viv Michie

Matthew Kreuzer, Nic Naitanui
Billy Longer, Tom Derickx

Patrick Dangerfield, Dustin Martin, Lance Franklin, Ben Lennon, Jackson Paine, Lewis Taylor
Daniel Markworth, Liam McBean

Mitchell and Hanley pick themselves as premiums in the back line. Grimes could relish playing under a different coach and playing in an improving team. I imagine he'll greatly increase his 2013 average of just 80. Swallow is a top end talent that should get some more midfield time and improve out of sight. Had some injury concerns last year that held him back but his potential was shown in the last three games he played when he pumped out 94, 135 and 85. I'd expect a similar output this year.

Beams, Murphy and Thomas are just too good to turn down at their prices in the midfield. Considering they've all averaged 105+ in the past, and are at a prime age I can't see any of them averaging under 100, which is delicious at their prices, particularly Thomas'. Cotchin should improve and Pendles is an automatic captaincy choice.

Kreuzer and Nic Nat are a risky ruck combination so to sure it up I've slapped Longer on the bench. He should play every game that he's available for the Saints and with the extra game time should start showing why he is such a highly rated talent. Providing sufficient cover for when Kreuz and Nic Nat inevitably miss games. Both though should bump their averages up by up to 10 points next season.

Forward line's pretty self explanatory. Dangerfield is a must have. I can't see Dusty going backwards. Franklin is the only risk, but like Martin, I'd be shocked if he averaged any less than 2013, which makes him worth the cash. Too much upside for me not to lock him in.

Any feedback lads and ladettes?

For so many mid pricers it doesn't look too bad at all. Structurally good EXCEPT I would get GAJ or even Selwood in there and u have spent too much money in the ruck.

Good team the only thing that stands out for me is the forward line with Lennon Paine and Taylor on the field but we can't say to much about rookies at this stage . I for one am a fan of having 2 good rucks have tried cheaper options in years gone by and all it did for me was lose lots of points cheers .

Def: Jack Grimes can score real well but then he can put in some bad ones also has been injury prone
Mids: Many have dropped off Trent Cotchin not sure why so that may be a good pick
Rucks Bit of a risk here. Longer on the bench is costing over 100000 more than a rookie  you could use that in other areas.
Fwds: I would upgrade one of those three Rookies Josh Caddy or Taylor Walker are options.

Team is ok except  for the weakness up forward with one extra rookie than normal. give it a 7/10

I Like this team.
Grimes can play and would be a lock if he wasn't so injury prone. Worth a punt.
Cotchin will get back to his best, played injured last year. Would be in my squad only for the round 8 bye.
I Like Longer on the bench, was trying to get him there myself but ran out of funds, I know that last years winner (Dimmawitts)
has Longer penciled in at R3.
Forward line a little thin at the bottom end is my only issue.

Well done !

I find it's important not to skimp on the ruck department. You need quality scorers. I'm not convinced at any midpricers such as Grundy and Kreuz and Nic Nat seem to be the best value from the high end rucks.

Yes, Longer is a risk, but if he averages 80 on the pine it will be worth it. He'll up his price significantly and I need solid coverage for Nic Nat/Kreuz.

Yeah, exactly my thoughts on the ruck department. As for the Brisbane rookies, I didn't put a lot of thought into it. I'll see who's named round one and who performs in NAB. It's all speculation at this stage, though I can see 2 of the 3 being in my team come lockout.

Exactly my thoughts on Cotch. He could turn out to be a POD as unlikely as that sounds!
Really not sold on the Caddy hype. I can't see him becoming a keeper which is what is required at that price. As for Tex, he too has his question marks, coming back from a serious knee injury, and he wasn't handling being THE key forward without Tippet very well in the early stages of last year. I'm quite okay with just seeing how things pan out. I might see if I can fit in Parker or Mitchell later on.

Cheers man! I haven't even considered byes at this stage though.
