Expensive but trying to work out how to get him in, aint easy as id like Hogan also.

i have hogan in my side but not martin yet i think that martin will easily average 80 whereas i starting to have my doubts on the ease of hogan going for 80 ... does not make sense ahaha

Having a look at prices  = %  over the board, 222k relates to about 46 to 47% ave. If Martin is chosen on the ground for round 1 is there any way that he can't obliterate an ave that low. All he would have to do is stay uninjured, and I can't see GC  taking any risks with such a great talent. They are getting very strong in the midfield with the likes of Gazza, Bennell, and Prestia more likely to get tagged. From a person who is never right I don't think you can go wrong with this guy. Never been out of my side. Cheers to all.    8)

Well said ST, that's a good way of putting it. He'll easily average that much and same, he's never been out if my side.

It's not about that for me though. I don't doubt Martin or his ability to make money but for 222k he would want to make a lot of money and quickly to justify picking him over a 120k player

True in a way Quinney, but I'm picking Martin at 222k not only for the money but also for the extra points he'll earn making it.
Hopefully that is of course. Cheers.    ;)

kilbluff1985

and he should have better JS then most rookies

Yeah then that's justifiable but I don't believe he will necessarily score any better than every other rookie. If there are some 100k rookies that can score the same or even within 10 ppg of him then it's worth saving money and getting them instead.

It's still likely that I'll end up starting with him but I'll do everything I can to find a few others to get in ahead of him that are 100k cheaper. He's far from a lock in my side

Vinny

I can't justify paying 220k for a player in their first year unless I have a guarantee or previous AFL experience. He is nothing like Jeager and alot skinnier so I won't pick him unless he shows something crazy preseason.

Imo, reserve judgements until NAB cup.

although, he wasn't super impressive stats wise last year.

I would much rather pay 100k less for a rookie who should score pretty well, but then pay an extra 100k somehwere else in my team to make a half premium a super premium or a medium priced player to a premium eg. Priddis ---> Selwood or Caddy ----> Franklin

Just think the 100k could be used better elsewhere than splurging it on a rookie who is exactly the same as any other rookie as they are all inexperienced and haven't played AFL footy before. It is such a step up from Under 18's and reserves. Yeah he may have more talent but $220k for a rookie is ridiculous.

eaglesman

he is not in my side right now ... but i reckon after game 1 of nab he will be in my side 100%

Pretty sure he averaged over 20 disposals, 6 clearances and 110-odd SC in the NEAFL last season which is pretty reasonable IMO?

Toga

Just found this on SC Paige re: his stats:

QuoteMartin averaged six tackles per game, applying at least five in all but four matches as well as averaging 20 disposals, 13 contested possessions, six clearances and three inside 50′s a game at 71.4% efficiency across his 12 senior games in the NEAFL.

Sorry! I  meant in the games he played in the NAB cup, should have clarified.

Toga

Ah right! Can't say I watched any of the NAB last year so wouldn't be able to comment :P
