Rocky v JPK not much difference? You have to be kidding yourself. JPK won't average more than 105-110 next year whereas Rockliff will go 120+. Too many Swans players to take points from him and hand balls way too much, and Rockliff will play pure mid all year. The second half of last year proves why too.

Thompson - 100- 105 at best with his draw, averages 108 at Etihad from last year. Mckenzie with no preseason, averaged 91, will explode to a 95-100 average with a full preseason. Simpson 100~ and Birchall 95-100 at best. Don't see much upside in Birchall at all.

Yeah clear win to Murph but Ellis off half back and could average 85-90 and Murphy won't average anymore than 105-110 if he's lucky.

Nic Nat 110+ at fit, Grundy in his second year 85.

Martin 105, Parker 95, Zorko 90 all at best = 290 Roughy 105, Pav 95, Franklin 105 = 305

Also in the argument we have to place rookies although we have no idea yet whatsoever.

McDonald, C Beams, Ellis, Dunstan, Kersten who aren't at rookie price vs Cutler, Halligan, Honeychurch, Morabito, Rohan

I really don't see where your cash generation will come from either. I don't know how much game time any of those rookies will get.

I would much rather Nic Nat and higher end rookies vs M6 and low end rookies. Just my take on it.

So we have:

- Thompson/McKenzie v Simpson/Birchall - about even or i might even be a little in front there
- Rocky v JJK - not a lot of difference i don't think - check the stats.  Also what role will Rocky play under the new coach?
- I have Murphy v Ellis - Clear win to me
- You have NicNac v Grundy - clear win to you (although Grundy does present excellent value)
- I have D.Martin/Parker/Zorko v Roughy/Pav/Franklin - Don't think there is a lot in that really although think Martin will explode and Pav will fade.  Buddy is an x factor so who knows.  Parker may or may not take the next step.  Zorko clearly a risk.  Will give it just to you but not by much
- Dunstan v Morabito - who knows really

So when i look at all that it seems like the main diff is an extra mid v having a premium ruck.  Most of the other comparisons are fairly arguable really.

The one area your team does have an advantage however is that i took a D8 and R4 who will never play.  Essentially making them floating donuts assuming they still have the rolling lockout this season.
Thompson/McKenzie by about 5 ppg
Rocky by at least 5-10, I would expect between 10-15 ppg
Murphy by a fair bit, but doubt he'll be a keeper
NicNat by a country mile
Roughy/Pav/Franklin just, maybe 5-10 ppg, probably closer to 5 as I don't think Buddy will go 100+

Like wato said, you won't be getting much cash generation, and that will kill you in the long run

JJK wins his own ball so nobody will take points away from him.  Averaged 119 in 2012 remember.  Was down last season only averaging 105 so to me that makes him good value.

Rocky went 113, 97, 109 over the last 3 seasons.  I agree he could potentially go 120+ but more likely will be around the 110 mark.  Also an extra 40k.

To me the biggest downfall of locking in Daisy at M6 is that it limits the change to get the best rookies and generate cash.  Long time to go however.  A lot depends on what "cheap" rookies stand up in the NAB cup really.

If not many stand up then we will be forced to pick more expensive rookies.

All good comments guys  :)

Before he averaged 119 he averaged 96 so he really had an above average year. The 'stats' that you're referring to also show that he wasn't down on contested ball or disposals but his kick to handball ratio was 1:1.6 which meant a 30 touch game only brought about 80 or so points which happened plenty of times last year for him.

The year when Rockliff went 113 was his second year of playing AFL football at the highest level, which is an amazing feat. He averaged well in excess of 120 in the scone half of 2013 when he played midfield every week. Rockliff is worth the extra 40k and will go 120 not 110.

Yeah and that's the biggest mistake also. To be honest there won't be many 'cheap' rookies that come up like the last few years. It is a very shallow draft and anyone beyond 20 or so will struggle to make the team immediately. This is where the structure I'm running becomes more efficient.

You will have to, sorry.

Judd still being elite in  2011-2012 really helped Murphy now that he's on the decline it's also affecting Murphy

If Daisy can stay on the park it may help Murphy but Judd could dish it out to Murphy where as Daisy is obviously an outside player they will prob just tag Murphy and Daisy

IMO I do not think Rocky will go as high as what people think he will ... he is still a good pick though

I cannot for the life of me see how someone could expect rockliff to average 10-15ppg more than JPK though ... there is not much in it really as the tag for rocky will come this year i think

....

the thomas at m5 and m6 debate is very much on the table for me and at this stage I am linking it to whether I fork out the cash to pick up Ablett to start with ... if i dont pick ablett I am leaning to picking thomas at m6 if i pick ablett thomas at m5 .... i need to crunch some numbers

Actually seriously considering Mr Gibbs of the Blue baggers Glenelg

FTFY.
The SA bias is the only reason why anyone would consider Gibbs when he is a midfielder only.
