If only my top order could make runs like Verrier does...

If only Verrier could keep the runs down like my top order does (went for 83  :-[)

Going for so many runs cost him a 3,2,1 vote. Once again Weidman featured

Looking at the stats. You have 3 batters who have scored 100 runs this series. Verrier and Atk have batted outside the top 5. Clarke is only top order batsman. For me 5 out of my top 6 have scored 100+ runs
It looks pretty terrible, but Atk couldn't make runs at the top order for the last couple of seasons so needed to be dropped down and it's always a risk with Verrier to have him too high given he only has reliable endurance. I have some ideas going into game 5 though, I have to try something. :P

I am enjoying this series, as it allows me to work out my orders for each pitch

Weidman has been quiet in the last 2 games, and consequently I have been beaten in both. Hmm my side really needs to help him out. Today I had Alex 6/82 on sticky and he recovered to finish with 7/190. I lost by 13 runs.

Big match tonight between myself and Alex.

Home bundy bashers
Away No Capes
Ground The Octagon
Match One Day Friendly
Date 09 Jan 14 08:00
Weather Windy
Pitch Slow

Advantage would be mine, I would assume, as I have the stronger spinners. Anything can happen, as we have seen this series. If Weidman doesn't take early wickets, we tend to struggle to take wickets. Batters need to step up this game

#65
Tied series, No Capes came back from 3-1 down to hold a 3-4 lead going into the final match, but couldn't defend their total (a common trend in the series) resulting in a 4-4 tie. Far more competitive series than it was looking like it would be at 3-1! :o

Best Batting

1. S. Dank (383 @ 47.875)
2. R. Clarke (283 @ 35.750)
3. G. Quagmire (283 @ 35.500)
4. R. Barao (273 @ 34.125)
5. L. Machida (243 @ 48.600)
6. S. Carwin (238 @ 29.750)
7. S. Verrier (224 @ 32.000)
8. B. Henderson (216 @ 43.200)
9. M. Atk (180 @ 60.000)
10. F. Jeandesboz (178 @ 22.250)

Best Bowling

1. C. Walsh (19 wickets @ 19.789)
2. C. Weidman (16 wickets @ 18.688)
3. S. Verrier (13 wickets @ 32.231)
4. M. Pyke (12 wickets @ 24.167)
5. G. St-Pierre (8 wickets @ 38.375)
6. P. Rodrigo (8 wickets @ 45.250)
7. J. Ma (7 wickets @ 37.286)
8. A. Pettis (6 wickets @ 56.167)
9. R. Roberts (5 wickets @ 60.400)
10. Z Dawson (4 wickets @ 32.000)

Interesting notes:
- Only one century was scored in the entire 8 match series, Lyoto Machida making 110 in the flat match
- Courtney Walsh and Chris Weidman were the only players to take wickets in every match of the series
- Stephen Dank was the only player to average over 40 without any red ink
- Chasing was successful 3 out of 4 times in the series, with only 2 totals being defended
- Stephen Verrier is the only player to feature in the top 10 of both bowling and batting for the series

It was a 2 horse race for MOTS I think, between the eventual winner and Stephen Verrier, however the man of the series is Chris Weidman.

Thanks for the great series Cookie, look forward to it again next season. :)

Thanks for the series, Alex. Only just got back from holidays and saw my win in the final match. You fought back well and made it tricky after my quick fire start to the series. Bring on the next one

I think we need to decide on a method of determining the overall winner.
Ideas:
Wickets Lost.
No Capes lost 60 wickets
bundy bashers lost 50 wickets

Runs Scored
No Capes scored a total of 1702 runs
bundy bashers scored a total of 1725

Sixes Hit
No Capes hit 25 sixes
bundy bashers hit 20 sixes

Net Run Rate(NRR)
No Capes Net Run rate is -0.1708
bundy bashers Net Run Rate is +0.1708
*(Fairly sure my calculations are correct)

need a new series
cannot pick a winner from a tie based on wickets and runs
(well you can but sucks)

Torpedo10

You needed a defending Champion. Who was ahead in H2H before this?

Why not just play an extra game with a random pitch?

Sounds like a good idea. Hopefully it doesn't end up a draw

The series will go down as a tie, but for the sake of having somebody owning the B8SHES and being able to defend them a playoff seems like the best way - or we can just go by runs etc.

I have issued you a decider challenge
