Simple poll - just select the one you'd put in your team if you could only choose one.

Hanley: Absolute gun, but poor record against good sides and they have an extremely tough draw, especially first up. But underpriced - priced at an average of 96, not including games where he sustained an injury - 101. Love the way he goes about it and has been training to expect taggers.

Simpson: Been great for years, and blossomed playing out of defence in the second half of the year. But will he be used in defence with the recruitment of Docherty and Everitt, capable HBF players. Struggled with the tag when it was handed to him (averaged a horrible 62 when tagged - far worse than Hanley's 85 when tagged), but the recruitment of Daisy and resurgence of Marc Murphy should mean less tags come his way next year. Good draw first up too.

So seriously tough decision in my eyes, need some help with this one! Cheers guys :)

Think you've summed it up yourself by what you've written mate.

Hanley seems the better pick by a mile. 101 average uninjured is a super effort. Tough draw is a worry and will be one of the first to be tagged but as you said he is training to curb their influence on him.

The tag effect on Simpson with both Murphy and Thomas doesn't change a thing as both are mids and will get mid tags not forward tags where Simpson will. Simpson is a HBF and I don't see his role changing whereas I think Walker may.

Hanley.

Brisbane have a terrible draw this year, especially early. With all the changes to club as well, i think its going to be a very difficult year for the lions.

Hanley last season averaged nearly 110 in either wins or losses by less than 20 points.

In big losses however, he averaged 78.

Enough said.

Simpson for me, he was a little down on his output playing a different role and like you say the Blues have a good draw early. He normally averages around 95 and could go a little higher in the early rounds .

Think he got rid of the beard, might help him score better  ;D

I like both of them, so it's really hard to split them. I'll go with Simpson for now, but only just.

Despite being a Brisbane supporter I favour Simpson as I think he will really benefit with Blues inclusions this year whereas Hanley more tan likely being an outside player will attract the second tag at Brisbane and he has shown an inability to handle tags when applied last year. Game against Pies where mcAffer tagged him stands out and only scored 49 SC points.
Personally hope he shakes tag but doubt is there,

Haha I think all the non-brisbane supporters are going with Hanley. Think you summed it up pretty well Ringo, will get 2nd tag 90% of the time, and struggles a bit with them. Hoping that changes though :)

I personally won't be starting either at this point, but if I had to, would probably go with Simpson due to Brisbane's draw and Hanley's inability to shake a tag

Interesting stat: Simpson averaged 105.1 in the last 15 games of 2012.
Yet he is priced at an average of 95.
Lock for mine.
