Everyone is locking in Dayne Beams, he is a bargain. However there is doubt over Marc Murphy. I currently have both in my side but there is that doubt about Murph's ability to handle the tag. He is a superstar player but will be shut down to often. Ended last year in great style, the addition of Dale Thomas and an improvement all round from the Blues. Is he also a lock, will he back to his brilliant 110+ form. Very interested in some detailed thoughts. Cheers.

I'm heavily considering him as well, he mentioned that he thought he was 3 months ahead of where he was this time last year so that encourages me, I think it will come down to how the team I want fits in with the budget, at the moment I've got Griffen just ahead of him but going to murph would free up some handy cash

Yeh that is very good to hear. Exactly right, I did need to free up some cash and thought he was too good to ignore. Looking further into his stats, taking away his sub affected match, he averaged a more modest 96. While in the 20 full matches he only dropped under 90 five times. It wasn't the fact he couldn't score just lacked those 120+ games. With a quality pre season (which seems to be on track) he'll be locked.

If he has his gut running back, he should improve to around 110.
Daisy should help but I think a fit Carrots will make a bigger difference.

I've seen a few with him. Personally I will not be starting him as there are just too many Swans players that will score well. May bring him in as one of my last upgrades if he shows that he can score extremely well throughout the entire season next year though.

Regarding Murphy, I see him averaging 110 at the very very best, whereas I struggle seeing Beams going under that. And seeing as their prices are basically identical, Beams is a lock for me. Think Murphy will average somewhere between 105-110, probably closer to 105. If rookie prices weren't so high, I may have been able to find a starting spot for him, but unfortunately can't.

For under 500k locked saw some training footage last week looks very solid and strong not unlike ablett in shape think he will bounce back in a big way  :)

If someone can convince me he'll deal with the heavy tag better he's in. Until then..

Agreed here, best case scenario for murphy im thinking is scraping into the top 10 mids. Anything less than that and you will need to waste a trade on him. I dont want to be stuck with a guy like mundy averaging around 105. I just dont like having these almost super premos and murphy will be one of these guys.

I think its better downgrading a premo to a guy like mitch clark giving you the extra cash to turn 2-3 of these almost premos into super guns.

Beams could easily be a top 8 mid and at the very best top 4. Just dont see that from murphy. Other guys have overtaken him and i think people have worked out how to slow him down.

with guys like Ablett Pendles Beams Rocky in my squad and plans to pick up Watson, Swan, Griffin etc.. i cant see myslef going gee i wish I had murphy in my squad. Can definately see me saying dam i have murphy in my team, wish i had swan.

Dont get me started lol. Marc will go 110+ at a minimum.

I think he is much lighter than Ablett as well as a couple of centimeters shorter. Ablett's core strength would be much greater. No comparison.

Did not mean he had turned into a Ablett clone just that he looks to be stronger in his thighs and hips bulked up a bit either way he looked in very good nic

Murphy is a gun but you just couldn't pick him coming off the season he had. I'm sure injury played a part but Malthouse seemed happy to move him to the forward line if he was being heavily tagged which just didn't work. If he has a big first half of the year I'll be happy to pay a higher price to get him in. Too risky to start though

Cheers for the input guys. Very interesting and differing views. At this stage he is in my side along with Beams. I think at his very best he is a keeper, but the tag is the one issue. Very interesting prospect.

Mykonos FC

2009: 113
2010: 112
2011: 118
2012: 113
2013: 92.

Quite clearly, 2013 is an outlier.
Full pre season, fit body, confidence back.
Should be 110 minimum really - tag or no tag.
Massive value. Plus a good bye round, not sure how you could pass this up.
