Anthony Miles - Richmond Tigers
Position: Midfield
Price:$279,700
Bye: Round 8

2013
AFL
2013 Average: 65.3
2013 Unsubbed Average: 91.0 (2 Unsubbed Games)
Tons: 1
2013 Games: 3

2012 Average: 74.7
Tons: 0
2012 Games: 7

NEAFL
2013 Average: 104.2
2013 Games: 13

Verdict: Miles is a ball magnet, as shown by his NEAFL form, racking up heaps of possessions and posting some impressive DT scores. Even at AFL level he's posted some impressive scores, averaging 91 points from his two unsubbed games this year. Even though Miles is on the Tigers' rookie list, he should still be considered, as there are two free spots on the senior list and Id' be surprised if Miles wasn't upgraded. He could even line up in round one for Richmond, if he shows good form during the preseason. Miles has always been a big ball-winner, so in AFL Fantasy he's one of my smokies, if given games.

2014 Predicited Average: 77-82

Well done mate

is one to keep a close eye on was never given a fair go at GWS and was a if he did get a game was usually got a vest

even before he got drafted his stats were good averaged like 120DT or something from memory so been a ball magnet his whole career just needs a fair chance at AFL level

henry

Just because he gets the ball a lot and scores well in dt doesn't mean he's a good player.  ::) There's no point in getting it 30 times if half the time you dispose or more it goes to the opposition. Can't see him getting many games without the vest, so no from me. JS very shaky.

I didn't say he was a good player. ??? ::)
He gets a lot of the ball meaning he should score well if he's given opportunity (not as the sub).

Kellogscrunchynut

Probably not fantasy material this season.

Could he potentially fill Foley's spot if Foley can't get on the park?

Yeah potentially, but Foley is ahead of him atm.

Cicjose

was a gun junior didn't do anything to prove that he could play for the worst team in the competition

not sure he can help the tigers either

Toga

I think he can help the Tiges :)

Tuck gone, Foley on the way out, and with our centres needing a bit more grunt to really match it with the best, Arnot, Miles, Thomas & Foley will be competing for two spots in the team.

Miles obviously has talent, was skipper of ACT in the U18s and I'm pretty sure he won some awards as well. If he can show a bit in preseason & is named for round 1 he'll probably be in my side 8)

Nice work Jroo!

Cheers Toga. Yep, I completely agree with you there.

Bully

Miles was the victim of an over supply of inside mids at GWS, yet every time he played a full game he racked up plenty of the ball, he was even given the responsibility of minding Gary Ablett. In his draft year he was AA, averaged the most possessions at the u/18 carnival and racked up plenty of contested possessions. Had he not been preselected by the Giants, he would have been pressing for a top 20 selection.

This is not to say he doesn't have any weaknesses, his kicking often lacks depth and he isn't particularly quick off the mark. On this last point, he has worked particularly hard on his running and has teamed up with ex Olympian Pat Scammell during the off- season. So far at Tigerland he has impressed at training and appears to be a very sound decision-maker in heavy traffic. If Miles gets a few runs in the preseason competition and performs well, expect him to be right in the frame for a round one call-up.

If there's one the lacking at Richmond, it's some much needed grunt work to help out Trent Cotchin and Dan Jackson. With Tuck gone and Conca still in rehab, I would be closely monitoring Anthony Miles. As a Richmond supporter, I was stoked we picked him up on the cheap because I believe he can play, even though he was on the outer at GWS. All things considered, I believe there's potential to churn out an 80 point average if he cements his spot the starting 18.

Well said mate. I agree with you there.
If named round one, I think I'll pick him.

Toga

Very well said Bully, I agree wholeheartedly with everything you've said there 8)

What makes you say Foley is on the way out? He's only 28 and finally getting a full pre season in. I think he will have a big season.
Miles is going to need to rely on injuries to get a game I think but will no doubt score well if given that opportunity

Toga

Just seemed to be a bit on the outer last year towards the end of the season IMO quinny. Was made sub & then dropped for the EF, seemed to lack the pace that he used to dominate with and looked like it might be nearing the end of the line for him.

Would be happy to be proven wrong though, I love the way Axel plays when fit and firing, would love to see it again!
