South Africa were cruising... then Amla decided to let a ball go.

Philander has batted great and du Plessis is hard to get out... as we know all too well

a first innings lead is still on the cards for SA

T Dog

may be time for Jacques Kallis to make way...has been a sensational and long career but at 38 it looks over  :'(

Nige

Gonna be a good series.

Virat Kohli is a star.  8)

Nah not yet, Australia go over in February, he'll get his confidence and form back then. 8)

missed all of it as been away... and although love south africa, gotta admire what india are doing here!

i've been a MASSIVE pujara fan since i first saw him on debut against australia in 2010... he's going to be a great of the game ... absolutely no doubt... hope he makes this a double as well! which would be 3 doubles already in his young career!

seriously don't think there's a player with more of an appetite for runs/prizes his wicket more highly than pujara in the world (yes even moreso than guys like amla/clarke --- sangakkara right up there obviously)

from what i saw on cricinfo, seems like india have been riding their luck a bit... lots of plays and misses ... but guess fortune favours the brave... immy being shower/morne injury has really hurt the saffers as well

seriously big result if india win... south africa will win 2nd test but still... a drawn series a victory a win for india and really a loss for sa

Cicjose

India's best 2 batsmen in the prime of their careers 8)

Pujara out for 153, Kohli on 92 not out.. India building a massive lead. 355 infront with 7 seven wickets remaining

Bill Manspeaker

couple of much needed wickets for SA. Kohli out for 96

pretty bad from india today so far... slow batting and wasted a lot of time before finally getting south africa in... who survived 11 overs to tea unscathed... 4 sessions left!

india still huge favorites but they'd only have themselves to blame if they end up drawing it with a wicket or 2 to get

saw a couple of shami's overs and quite impressed... india definitely have got some talent in this team

PowerBug

Shami is the one good paceman aged 19-24 in India, Sharma is from 25-29, and Khan is in the 30+ range. They produce one good seamer every five years or so right? :P That's better than South Africa's spin stocks, which is like one in fifteen. :P

320 to get (out of the equation) OR 8 wickets/90 overs to bat - looks like a good day 5 is in store, if south africa can put together 1 or 2 sizeable batting partnerships (time wise) they could just draw this and india could seriously regret their day 4 batting

will be interested to see the batting mentality, 320 really is not achievable on this pitch, surely they will just stonewall day 5 - i don't think india's bowlers have the penetration to nip out 8 defensively minded batsmen... guess we will see
