Def: Bartel, McVeigh, Mitchell, Darley, Scharenberg, McDonald (Clurey, Richards)

Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Watson, Jack, Beams, Martin, Kelly, Aish (Morabito, Taylor)

Ruc: Grundy, Sandiland (Apeness, Lobb)

Fwd: Dangerfield, Martin, Wingard, Fasolo, Billings, Rohan (Broomhead, Garlett)

Cash Left: $2,000

Bye Structure: 12/7/11

So with the prices going up, but the cap staying the same, it has made putting the team together more challenging.  It means you have to more or less have a weakened line, so at the moment, I have chosen the rucks.  Grundy, being the #1 ruck at Collingwood, and Sandilands who at his best can average over 100 when fit, seem like good bargains that should at least be decent cash cows.  Some will say that you need a premium ruckman, but to be honest with the exception of Cox, none of them have done it consistently over several seasons, and last year I got burnt with Maric trying to do that.  Premiums in other lines seem a much safer bet.

I've probably gone with a more Guns 'n' Rookies structure than I have in the past but there seems to be a some really hard to pass up premiums at the top of each of the Defence, Midfield and Forward lines.  Naturally everyone under $300k are subject to change as many are coming back from injury or are rookies, and so I haven't seen who the must have bargains for this year are (with the exception of Martin from Gold Coast).

Would love any feedback on my team  :)

I would firstly try and get suckling in your team and a few other trades
Jack - Murphy or Thomas
wingard- to maybe pav
billlings- Clark
What beams do u have? If u have Dayne
Kelly- C Beams
Morabito (if not ready)- O'rourke
Don't know much about clurey and Richards u could go
Richards- fuller
Maybe Clurey - Langdon
Darley - suckling
Unsure if you'll be able to do all those trades + it's only my opinion

meow meow

Schazberger can't even run at the moment so his debut will be delayed. Darley will be lucky to play a game in 2014.

Daisy is too cheap to ignore so maybe downgrade a mid to free up some cash to spend on that backline.

eaglesman

when i first looked at the team i was like he must have a lot of cash look over as i was wondering where did all the cash go

firstly i cant see how u can pick darley when suckling is only 20k more expensive(though i am not completely sold on suckers)

martin kelly aish --- a lot of money on rookies here maybe go a little cheaper

grundy sandi - i like it i have not got the guts to do it but it could very well pay off

do not like your forward line ... i wouldnt be on wingard myself but good luck .. do not like fasolo and rohan both very fringe in their teams rohan will be sub a lot and fasolo is meh as a footballer

johnnytheboy1

Good unique team like the pick of Darley who should do  better now that he is at a new team hopefully for you he is played in a more attacking role. The other excellent selection you have made is  Chad Wingard who will  im predicting will be up  with the elite In 2014
The remainder of the team is solid the only  concern  may be  too many players not playing In Rd 8.  8/10

Thanks for the feedback guys.  Here is my updated team:

Def: Bartel, McVeigh, Mitchell, Suckling, Buntine, McDonald (Fuller, Battersby)

Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Watson, Jack, Beams, Martin, Beams, Dunstan (O'Rourke, Taylor)

Ruc: Grundy, Sandiland (Nankervis, Lobb)

Fwd: Dangerfield, Martin, Wingard, Higgins, Clark, Broomhead (Markworth, Garlett)

Cash Left: $6,800

Bye Structure: 11/9/10

Obviously rookies/cheap players are largely speculative.  Once again, feedback much appreciated.

GoLions

I'm not a fan of Grundy as a starting ruck. Could you do this;

Jack-->Daisy
Bartel-->Birchall
Grundy-->Minson

Would be much much better IMO. Rest looks pretty good.

Mags,
Ablett great choice but comes up pretty hard in the first few rounds with taggers, & talk of spending more time Fwd.
Would you think of trading him for a round 9 giving you then a 10-10-10
BUT
he is the Master.

#8
Thanks for the feedback guys.  Here is my 3rd go for the year.  Would love your thoughts.

Def: J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, D. Swallow, M. Suckling, L. McDonald, J. Laidler (D. Gardner, M.Fuller)

Mid: G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, K. Jack, N. Fyfe, D. Beams, J. Martin, J. Aish, L. Dunstan (J. Hunt, M. Honeychurch)

Ruc: S. Mumford, B. Grundy (M. Apeness, T. Nankervis)

Fwd: P. Dangerfield, D. Martin, C. Wingard, S. Higgins, J. Hogan, A. Fasolo (L. Taylor, D. Garlett)

Notes:
I am considering downgrading Suckling to Kolodjashnij and Fasolo to a rookie (maybe Kersten) and upgrading either Higgins to Mitchell (would be able to do it with $300 to spare) or upgrading Swallow to someone like Lumumba or Hanley and Higgins to a mid $300k fwd.

Hunt is there for the dpp to the backline.  I may change him once I see what good rookies around that price emerge through the preseason

Once again all feedback would be much appreciated.

D: one premium weak, don't think you can' rely on to many defensive rookies this year.

M: love it, just not sure on fyfe. Still prone to 30+ possession games that only amount to 100 points because of poor D/E

R: like the mummy pick but I don't expect Grundy to average more than 80's

F: nice line. Higgins an obvious risk but it could pay off

Maggie May

Hey guys.  Thanks for the feedback.  I've been tinkering a bit based on the feedback and wanted your thoughts on my updated team.

Def: McVeigh, Mitchell, Lumumba, Suckling, Koldjashnij, McDonald (Gardner, Fuller)
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood, Beams, Thomas, Martin, Aish, Dunstan (Honeychurch, Perris)
Ruc: Mumford, Grundy (Lobb, Nankervis)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Martin, Cloke, Mitchell, Hogan, Lennon (Taylor, Garlett)

Cash Left: $2,500

johnnytheboy1

Def: I think there are better Choice than Lumumba (Harry O) better off with someone like Hanley
Mids: You have gone for expensive rookies here there maybe better options than Aish that will open up cash Remainder of Midfield is great.
Rucks: Mumford will hve more of the workload that he had when he was at the swans so i expect higher scores.Expect more from Grundy this year replace Lobb with a DPP Brown or Thurlow.
Fwds: Would only go with one of Mitchell or Cloke maybe replace with Dixon

Overall  Team Has a few problems still but with a little thinking you should be able to get it right  7/10

DC13

Def: Agree with johnny here, although harry o can post some solid scores he is often inconsistent and would be better off getting an improver such as hanley, simpson, swallow, etc.
Mid: Very strong. Like the look of having 3 captain choices along with a good choice of rookies.
Ruck: Not sure GWS will help mummys scoring, lots of talls in the team and might struggle with the interchange cap. Grundy will improve as #1 ruck.
Fwd: Solid, Cloke should improve with the new strength in contests rule and just watch Mitchell to see if he will get mid time, if he is stuck fwd I would find alternatives.

Overall the team is good, especially the midfield but would look at fixing up the rucks and harry o. 7.5/10

Thanks once more for the feedback.  I have had yet another go at this, I've tried a bit of a different approach.  I've had to weaken off my forwards a little bit, but there seems to be a bit more depth in the forward rookies to allow this.

Def: J. Bartel, J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, M. Suckling, K. Kolodjashnij, L. McDonald (T. Cutler, M. Fuller)
Mid: G. Ablett, S. Pendlebury, J. Selwood, N. Fyfe, D. Beams, J. Martin, J. Polec, L. Dunstan (J. O'Rourke, M. Honeychurch)
Ruc: N. Naitinui, B. Grundy (F. Thurlow, T. Nankervis)
Fwd: P. Dangerfield, D. Martin, C. Dixon, J. Hogan, B. Lennon, S. Kersten (L. Taylor, D. Garlett)

Cash Left: $7,900

Once again, feedback would be very much appreciated.

my first reaction was 2 rookie backs 3 rookie mids 1 300k ruck and 3 rookie forwards and only $7900 left over ... made me question where in the hell has your money gone?

I just feel like you could improve defence and forwards and score more points overall if u downgraded a bit in your mids
