GEELONG will charge non-members an admission fee to watch the Cats train at two "members" sessions at Simonds Stadium during the school holidays.

It will be the first time a club has asked fans to pay to watch players train.

Adults who are not members will be charged $5 and juniors $2, but 2013 and 2014 members will be admitted free to the sessions, on January 13 and 20, which will also include an autograph signing session.

Hope other clubs do not follow suit.

I can understand some of the reasonings behind it but I would have thought having non members at training could be an encouragement to become members. Maybe they should be looking at ways to get these people into membership.

i reckon that's what they are trying to do make people think they may as well become members instead

Its smart with the government continuing to stuff up the economy kids will have to start joining the work force earlier and earlier Geelong are just doing what sooner or later most sporting clubs will do around Australia that is encouraging kids to look for jobs as earlier as 10. So they can afford to see their favourite players train.

Nah honestly this is total shower hopefully there aren't charging for autographs/pictures as well.

I mean paying $5-$10 once a year to get an autograph and watch your team play isn't that bad

This tweet just received

"Last pre-Christmas training session at 4pm today at Coorparoo. Get the kids down to have a look - it's totally FREE"

Will be going of course,

If you were taking your kids to get an autograph, then $10 sounds fine to me.

Otherwise front up and become a member!!

Also I'm pretty sure 90% of people who would watch training/autographs would be members

to be a dedicated enough supporter to go to training, you're probably already a member. Unless you're too poor to afford it, in which case, suck to be you now.

How do you think the rich stay rich they don't spend money, Poor people remain poor because every cent they get they spend.

Seems fair. There getting something out of it. Not like there charging them 5 bucks to use the local park. Good idea. Will encourage people to go to more game i reckon rather than pay to watch train.
