My First SC Team for 2014 using SC Gold Player Prices

Def: Seems Good with a POD being Buntine be interesting to see if he breaksout this year.
Mids: You need something different and Shuey is that player hopefully he can step it up this year
Rucks: Standard
Fwds:I think you should upgrade Hale to Dixon & Downgrade Fasolo to Lennon & Rohan to Garlett
Overall I think you have too many players out in Round 8 which will affect your team 10 players on the bye in round 8 is better as you will score more that round but i will leave that up you look at other peoples advice on here but in the end it is your decision who you pick i give your team an 7.5/10

Thanks for all your input guys, I really appreciate it. I took it on bard and made a few changes, got rid of both rookie rucks, brought in Derickx (who must be #2 ruck at SYD) and Apeness (who may be a good handcuff for Sandi if (or when) he gets turf toe).

I got rid of Hale and brought in Dusty to beef up my FWD line, but now lack a DPP ruck FWD. I ditched Rohan and got Garlett. Also ditched Fasolo and got Lennon.

I ditched Honeychurch from MIDs & brought in Dunstan.

I ditched Buntine from DEF and got Clurey.

I have $124K left in the bank.

I think it's ok, but the rucks do concern me. Maybe I could grab Vardy as a DPP in fwd line, but then I'd have 3 Geelong FWD's.... Aaaaaaargh decisions decisions!!

If you are worried about rucks then I would consider thi:

Apeness to Thurlow or Brown to create DPP

Then Caddy to Bellchambers or Dixon.

Still not convinced on Bartell as defender as he may be used to cover areas of concern with departures at Cats but suitable alternates are available.

Nice team and each an improvement well done.

I have taken the good advice on board, but Apeness - Brown/Nankervis didn't provide enough cash to go Caddy - Dixon, so instead I have gone with Caddy - Hale. I really like the look of the team now and think I will settle with this until the pre-season comp is done. Thanks t all who helped with advice.

I've been obsessing over my team (again) and found I didn't like the amount of risk in my rucks (Nic Nat & Sandi) so I've been tinkering and come up with this, which I'm very happy with. Also made some changes to my FWD's, reduced risk there as well by dropping Clark for Hogan.

Good choice in selecting Clurey he may not play from the get go but will deffinetly see games next year.

Hey mate, think I've commented on your team previously so ill give you some more advice haha, hopefully will help.

Back line looks solid, maybe gone a little too cheap at D3 & 4 with Swallow and Suckling, would much rather see Suckling at D5 and only the one rookie not two. JS and scoring output is very thin across this line.

Mids look strong. Ablett and Pendlebury are musts and great picks, and you've gone for complete value here with all three of Beams Shuey and Thomas. Really good choices in rookies. Only thing I'd make a criticism on is you have no Round 10 premiums - I suggest you fix that and get in someone like Rockliff/Watson/Fyfe.

Rucks look strong - Not sold on Kreuzer though.

Forwards look good, don't like the pick of Wingard though, I think there's better players out there for cheaper - Franklin/Pavlich etc.
I like the pick of Caddy and Karnezis,Hogan looks okay too.

I would like to see your defence a little stronger and whether that is upgrading Swallow to a premium like McVeigh or Simpson or just upgrading a rookie I think it needs to be stronger.

Mid is strong with Ablett and Pendles and then Beams Shuey and Thomas all great value and rookies looking really strong but I think that you don't need guys worth 175k on your bench and could go for cheaper guys and upgrade elsewhere.

With your rucks I think Lobbe is ready for a big season and Kreuzer could step it up too the next level again but that might be just because im a carlton fan ;)

I cant really fault your forward line it looks extremely strong but im a bit wary of your Karnezis pick as he could be a dud again this season.

Also how is your bye structure?

Rucks This is where you could downgrade a ruckman to improve your backs look at a cheap ruck e.g Mumford or Mcintosh as an example
Fwds: I would get rid of one of Karnezis and Hogan if not both and bring in Clark and Lennon. Caddy will score real well this year.

This team has improved slightly so i give it an 8/10

Hi guys, thanks for your advice. I've taken it all on board and made a few changes. Added a premo DEF moving Suckling from D3 to D4, meaning only one rookie on field in DEF.

Also sacked a few uber expensive rookies for cheaper options. Have also planned with a view to bye round set up, so here it is:

I think having Mcdonald on your Def banch is taking up more money if you want him in your team it may be better to leave someone like Polec out in the midfield and put him there get a Cheaper defender which will helpto upgrade Rohan up a forward to someone better as i cant see Rohan scoring highly. Rohan is the Weakest player in your team I still give that team a 7.5/10

You're killing me Johnny!!! Aaargh! I can't sensibly drop McDonald, for the life of me I can't think of a decent candidate to replace him as a rookie defender who looks like getting a game. Next, there's just so much difference in the opinion on here as to Gary Rohan, some think he'll kill it, some think he's a dud. I don't know what to think, other than he's talented and been in the system for a fair while, and is in Swans best 22. Who do I go to upgrade him? Hogan (KPP - wont score as well as Rohan), Clarke (Still injured), Bock (???), Fasolo (Pies best 22?) Karnezis (Injured again)....

Fantasy Football.... it's like a miserable marriage. It drives me mad but I can't stop it cos I'm committed!!!
