Just a comment on Beams and quoting Leppa

New Senior Coach Justin Leppitsch is another who is excited about what Beams can potentially bring to the team.
"I have liked what I have seen of him, he is a pretty committed kid and a very good trainer," Leppitsch told The Courier Mail.
"Hopefully he can be the extra recruit for us. He seems to me like a very smart footballer, he reads the game well and is a great offensive talent."

So this indicates he will get games early.

I have both at the moment but if i had to take one out i would probably take out Beams, but like everyone says its still way too early to make a call. Nice one Ringo, good to hear, we need some cheapies playing.

Ricochet

Always hear such good things about Beams. I am really looking forward to see him play again.
Atm I have him over Tyson but like most, that could change come round 1

Ringo

For your information atm I have both as well but that could change by Round 1. Both players have heaps of potential and I am praying Beams can stay on the park for the best part of this season.

Tyson at Melbourne is guaranteed games and should score well enough to rise in cash, that's all you want for someone his price.

SydneyRox

If you want a call on one, then I go Beams. Has shown he can score well when given the opportunity and the extra money does come into it.

I also have both ATM though

@ Torp - How is Tyson guaranteed games at Melb? I can tell you that aint how Roos works.

We know... fact is he needs to field 22 players a week, and tyson is easily good enough for melbournes best 22, and he has decent work ethic to go with it.

I still think that there was a point this year though when melbourne should have just taken like 19 or 20 players into a game, to make a point that if you're not up to AFL standard, you're not playing.

I think you're being a bit generous there.

Maybe a little :P

I really rated him at the giants, but he really didn't get a good run at it with injuries.

If he's named round 1, I'll probably be on.

Vinny

If both are named Round 1, I THINK I will have both.

Can someone explain to me why there has been such a focus on Beams/Tyson around the place?  (other sites too)

I get Beams has an elite brother and will have more opportunity at brissi following the exodus (not that he really needed more), and I get Tyson will have good opportunity at Melbourne to make his mark, but what will they average? 70?  And both have also had repeated injury concerns.

For the price range, projected ave, durability, TOG, chance of sub, etc, are they really all that different to the following guys?

Seasoned
Clark       249k
Miles       246k
Young     243k
Toumpas 240k
Anthony  239k
Karnezis  229k
Rohan     176k
Laidler     161k
Ellis         159k
O'Rourke  123k
McBean   123k

1st year players
Martin      222k
Kelly        212k
Billings      207k
Aish         187k
McDonald 182k
Salem      177k
Mitchie     172k
Sheed      167k
Dunstan   132k
Crouch     117k
Markworth 123k
Taylor      117k

...just to name a few.

Yeah there are few in here that have a lower %chance of averaging 70, but are probably still in the ball park. (assuming no sub)

I kinda get the hype around Beams, but not so much Tyson.  Can someone explain to me like I'm 5.  :P

On a side note, ya gotta love the pricing this year, its making everyone be a little more creative and unique, forcing us to put'm on the line.  The cream will definitely rise to the top this year imo after a couple of soft years of similar teams.

kinda been feeling this a bit later ... which is why I have gone with Xavier Ellis at the moment because if fit would be a lock at the eagles and will get us 70 i would of thought
