Fantasy Status: Rookie
Position: Midfield
2014 Price

DT: $135,500

AFL

SANFL
2013 Games: 24
2013 Average
DT:
76.0

Jroo says: Gordon is a mature age rookie, who should be given senior opportunity in 2013. The former Sydney Swan impressed in the SANFL this year, proving to the Tigers he deserves a second chance. He averaged 76 DT points which shows he can be a good scorer and when given his opportunity, he could be a useful cash cow.

#24 Ben Griffiths

Age: 22
Height/Weight: 200cm/104kg

DT: 32.0

VFL

2013 Average
DT:
41.4

Jroo says: There's no doubt that Griffiths does have some talent, but firstly Richmond need to find which end of the ground he belongs at. He was originally a forward, but then moved back, but I think he's best football will be played up forward. He's a booming kick and a good mark and if he's played up forward he should produce better fantasy scores. The inclusion of Hampson will hurt his chances at getting games though. He's cheap in AFL Fantasy, but he probably won't be able to string enough games to make much cash and hence won't be a good cash cow.

#17
#6 Shaun Grigg

Age: 25
Height/Weight: 190cm/85kg
Fantasy Status: POD
Position: Midfield

$448,200
DT: $484,600

AFL
2013 Games: 22
2013 Average
SC:
83.1
DT: 89.4

Jroo says: Grigg has been fantastic since making the move to Richmond. He knows how to find the footy and has been a decent fantasy scorer. The outside midfielder has played a lot off a wing, but he'll now have to fight for a spot in the Tigers' line-up next year after the emergence of Brandon Ellis and other youngsters. He's definitely a risky pick, as I can't see him improving on his 2013 average.

#18
#2 Dylan Grimes

Age: 22
Height/Weight: 193cm/88kg
Fantasy Status: Breakout candidate

DT: $256,900

2013 Average
SC:

DT: 43.6

VFL
2013 Games: 2
2013 Average
DT:
60.5

Jroo says: The injury prone defender has struggled to stay on the park in the last few years, however, when he's on the park he isn't s bad scorer for a key defender. Grimes is an attacking defender and the Tigers' rate him very highly. If fit, Grimes will play every game and he certainly isn't expensive. I think you could do worse than pick Grimes in your side, as I think he's a very good chance to have a breakout season.

#16 Shaun Hampson

Age: 25
Height/Weight: 201cm/104kg
Fantasy Status: Breakout candidate
Position: Ruck
2014 Price
SC:
$334,100
DT: $294,100

AFL

2013 Average
SC:
68.3
DT: 61.7

VFL
2013 Games: 6
2013 Average
DT:
71.1

Jroo says: Hampson was targeted during the trade period, as the Tigers needed a second ruckman, for Ivan Maric. Hampson is actually a very good ruckman and I think he'll play a lot of games next year, as he can also play up forward to great effect. He has shown in the VFL he can be a good scorer averaging 71.1 DT points or 83.6 when you take out his one injury affected game. A new club may bring out the best in Hampson, he's not too pricey and I'm sure there will be lots of coaches who will take a punt on him.

#20
#32 Brad Helbig

Age: 21
Height/Weight: 185cm/85kg
Fantasy Status: Cheapie
Position: Midfield
2014 Price
SC:
$123,900
DT: $135,500

2013 Average
SC:

DT: 20.0

VFL
2013 Games: 11
2013 Average
DT:
84.6

Jroo says: Helbig has made some impressive fantasy scores in the VFL, but he is yet to convert that form into the AFL. He can play in the midfield or even down back, but Helbig has struggled for game time at AFL level, only playing one game this year. Helbig is cheap, so if he can break into the Tigers' line-up he wouldn't be such a bad choice, but I doubt he will play many games in the AFL, this year.

#21
#14 Bachar Houli

Age: 25
Height/Weight: 180cm/84kg
Fantasy Status: Semi-premium
Position: Defender
2014 Price
SC:
$493,800
DT: $461,800

AFL
2013 Games: 20
2013 Average
SC:
91.6
DT: 85.2

Jroo says: Houli was brilliant off half-back this year for the Tigers. His run and carry from defence helped set up many Tiger attacks. Houli's rebound from defence led to opponents tagging him, which shows they respect him and believe Houli is vital to the Tigers' success. Houli is often forgotten as a backline premium, making him a good POD.

2014 Predicted Average
SC: 87-92
DT: 85-90

#22
#23 Daniel Jackson

Age: 27
Height/Weight: 188cm/92kg
Fantasy Status: POD
Position: Midfield
2014 Price
SC:
$499,200
DT: $492,500

AFL
2013 Games: 22
2013 Average
SC:
92.6
DT: 90.9

Jroo says: Jackson capped of an awesome 2013 season winning the club's best and fairest award. Jackson transformed himself from a fringe player in 2012 with many supporters believing he would never be good enough, but he proved them wrong, to become one of the best contributors to the side in 2013. Jackson's fantasy output also considerably improved. Jackson may get run with roles, but he's still able to find the football. He won't come cheaply next year though and is somewhat risky, but if it pays off you will reap the rewards.

#28 Jake King

Age: 29
Height/Weight: 178/82kg

DT: $294,300

AFL
2013 Games: 17
2013 Average
SC:
68.1
DT: 54.3

Jroo says: King has never been a good fantasy scorer and you'd be crazy to consider him. He's no longer guaranteed a spot in the side and the younger brigade of McDonough and Lennon will overtake him by the end of they year. Pass.

#24
#15 Chris Knights

Age: 27
Height/Weight: 184cm/84kg
Fantasy Status: Underpriced
Position: Forward
2014 Price
SC:
$304,600
DT: $338,100

2013 Average
SC:
70.6
DT: 73.4

VFL
2013 Games: 1
2013 Average
DT:
137.0

Jroo says: Durability has been Knights' issue in the past, as he hasn't played a lot of football, but when he does, he scores well. Knights is recovering well from his season-ending knee injury and looks set to play in round one, if he can break into the side. Knights isn't expensive, as he's discounted due to two sub affected games. If he can stay fit, I think he'd be worth the punt.

#35 Ben Lennon

Please note, stats weren't available for the game on 25/3. So Lennon averages 112 points from only five games, not six.
SC: 124

U18's Championship
2013 Games: 4
2013 Average
DT:
84.8

Jroo says: The Tigers were delighted that Lennon slipped to their first pick in the draft, but they won't be expecting a lot of senior football from the youngster in 2014. He'll be given time to develop in the VFL and if he impresses there, you may see him get an opportunity at AFL level, but he won't come cheap and I wouldn't expect huge scores from him.

#42 Sam Lloyd

Age: 23
Height/Weight: 182cm/84kg

SC:
$117,300
DT: $135,500

VFL
2013 Games: 17
2013 Average
DT:
71.8

Jroo says: Richmond recruited quite a few forwards during the off season, so it's hard to see where Llloyd sits at the club. If he impresses in the preseason, he could easily be lining up in round one. He has shown in the VFL that he kicks goals and is able to score well in fantasy. He's a mature-aged rookie and cheap, so if he gets games, he could be a handy cash cow.

#20 Ivan Maric

Age: 27
Height/Weight: 200cm/102kg

DT: $403,400

AFL
2013 Games: 19
2013 Average
SC:
96.9
DT: 74.4

Jroo says: Maric was still able to post some good fantasy scores, even though his year was affected by injuries. The inclusion of Hamspon will help Maric share the workload, which may mean that Hampson may steal some points of Maric, but at least Maric will be able to keep fit and will be able to play more games. He will also rest up forward and he has shown that he can cause problems for the opposition as he can kick a goal or two, which will boost his SuperCoach scores. I feel Maric is a risk, due to his injury concerns, but if he can get back to his 2012 form, he'll be a steal at that price, in both competitions.

#28
#4 Dustin Martin

Age: 22
Height/Weight: 187cm/89kg
Fantasy Status: Gun
Position: Forward/Midfield
2014 Price
SC:
$549,200
DT: $526,000

AFL
2013 Games: 22
2013 Average
SC:
101.8
DT: 97.0

Jroo says: Martin keeps his F/M status, meaning he should be one of your first picked players in SuperCoach or AFL Fantasy. A midfielder who occasionally rests up forward and kicks goals are very valuable and we are yet to see the best of Martin who still has areas to improve on. After burning many coaches in 2012, Martin improved in 2013, as he worked on his tank, which helped him run out second halves better and he will continue to work on this. He had 55 shots at goal this year, which shows he knows where the goals are and if he improves his accuracy his scores will only get better. In a midfield of Cotchin and Deledio, Martin won't get that much attention, but when he does he generally doesn't handle it well. For me, Martin is a lock, as many gun forwards have lost forward status and even though Martin is one of the most expensive forwards he should be one of the top forwards at the end of the year, so he's worth the hefty price tag.

#34 Liam McBean

Age: 19
Height/Weight: 202cm/86kg

DT: $154,300

AFL
2013 Games: 0

VFL
2013 Games: 14
2013 Average
DT:
67.9

Jroo says: McBean was very impressive in the VFL this season booting 37 goals from 14 games, leaving Tiger fans excited about the future. He didn't do awesome in fantasy though, averaging 67 DreamTeam points, but he has shown he will become a great player in the future. The skinny forward will use 2014 as another development year where he will continue to spend time in the VFL, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is called up to play senior football this year. Unless he's given games this year, he's one to watch for the future.
