B: Hanley, Birchall, Grimes, Suckling, S.Shaw, Laidler ........ Bews, Fuller

M: Watson, Rockliff, Cotchin, Stanton, D.Beams, D.Thomas, D. Tyson, C.Beams ....... Polec, Garlett

R: Nic Nat, Sandi ...... Currie, Nankervis

F: Danger, Franklin, Tippett, Hawkins, Higgins, Clark ...... Markworth, Kerston

*rip into it guys, I'm sure there'll be some strong opinions about more than a few of my selections (and non-selections) lol

JBs-Hawks

Dont like Stanton for SC

Tippett and Buddy in the same forwards is asking for trouble. So is Higgins and Hawkins. Could you downgrade Hawkins to Fasolo and then tippet to a premo?

Buddy to me is a no-brainer, massively underpriced and is part of the reason l'm thinking of going with Tippett  ;), he'll only be attracting the attention of the No.2 back in each team and will be pinch hitting in the ruck.

Hawkins is still a wait and see for me, but all reports coming out of the Cattery indicate that he's looking good and moving freely. It's also worth remembering that he got his average last year without being able to run, change direction or leap. So if at the start of the season he's fit then he's in.

Higgins, l hate him but his talent and scoring potential is undeniable. He's massively underpriced so once again if he's fit and firing in the NAB cup l'll be picking him and just be hoping that his marshmallow body holds up long enough to make me some good coin..........this theory also applies to Mitch Clark too

I'd put at least one of Pendles, Ablett or Selwood in your team

Ricochet

BACKS I reckon it's really risky with Shaw and Laidler at D5/6. Rookies down back are very thin this year so I'm putting another premo down there
MIDS really missing a captain option there. One of Gaj or Pendles. I would go GAJ. Also I would pick MMurphy over Stanton. He is so underpriced for a proven premo
RUCKS they're fine mate, solid as
FWD Very strong with Clark being your F6. I'd be very wary of Hawkins. His back problems are ongoing

l'm sure all of them will be in my team before the end of the season.....they're only not in at the moment because of my "underpriced" strategy for the start of the season

Bones Bombers

Don't you want to start with at least a handfull of players who will finish in the top 6/8/2/6 of their position? Will most likely need a hell of a lot of upgrades to have a strong team at the end. Trades are still going to be limited aren't they?

Thanks Rico, you're words of wisdom are appreciated mate

Backs ..... totally agree on Shaw and Laidler, but if Shaw is named rnd 1 he's in, but Laidler has every chance of being moved out for a rookie, or Fuller may just end up being a starter.

Mids ...... Gaz and Pendles arent in because of my "underpriced" strategy. Murphy was going to be in my team all along, until l read recently about his knee still being "managed", but he could easily end up back in again

Fwds ...... Could be a bit of overkill, if theres a standout rookie in the pre-season l might lose one of my starters. Reports from the Cattery suggest Hawkins is pain free, training well and looking fighting fit. Last year he couldnt run, turn or jump so if he has a good pre-season he'll definately be in my starting line-up

Ricochet

Fair enough mate I have a similar strategy I with underpriced focus
Just on Ablett. He averaged 136 right up until the last few rounds when he got slightly injured. I'm viewing him as underpriced. He also has a great run to the bye

l can see your point Bones, but l'm going out on a limb this year and trying for an underpriced strategy, with a view to picking players who will all increase in price and have an immediate impact with scoring (fingers crossed)

As for needing more players who will end up at the pointy end of scoring for their positions, l agree that there arent alot of them.
But l think the ones l have that will are......Hanley, Birchall, Beams, Cotchin, Rockliff, Nic Nat, Danger & Franklin, along with Grimes, Watson, Tippett & Hawkins a chance to be as well.

Yep trades are still limited

Good to see someone trying something a bit different. Think that's what VS wants. With the byes being quite early this year, early upgrades should be a good idea and you will have some stepping stones there.

Not starting Ablett feels very uncomfortable, have never done it before. l think l've been influenced there by the statements made by both him and Bluey about him spending more time forward

I might still weaken and put him back in, time will tell l suppose

cheers man, and thats one area that will make me give this team a tweak......the byes. l havent taken them into account at all yet, but once l do l'm sure the team will change, but my strategy wont though

Bones Bombers

I don't let byes rule my starting team, but definitely pays to keep them in mind for early season trades.
