Ben Ross' SuperCoach averages when he played for North Melbourne, not too impressive.

Ben Ross' stats at VFL level for Werribee Tigers.

Verdict: After being delisted by North Melbourne in 2011, playing 14 games for the club, Ross continued to play VFL with the Werribee Tigers, which lead to his AFL comeback with the Hawks, who selected him in this years' rookie draft. Since Ross is on the rookie list for the Hawks, he will have to get promoted before he can play at AFL level. An impressive preseaon could see him elevated though, as he is the only player on their rookie list ready to play senior football and make an impact.

In his first year out of the AFL system, Ross was the best player in the VFL winning the J. J. Liston Trophy. He averaged 22 disposals that year (including one game of five disposals, which I assume he was injured) and was unlucky not to be picked up last year. However, this year he kept at it and he had another impressive year, even though he had a delayed start to the season and missed a lot of preseason training and still averaged 21 disposals a game.

Ross, now 25 years old, has said he won't let his second chance slip and he is determined to do well at his second club. I'd be keeping a close eye on Ross as I could see him breaking into the Hawks' line-up this year and he's cheap and a mature age rookie, which is SuperCoach gold, if he performs well, which he has in the VFL for Werribee. He's my smokie rookie for 2014.

2014 Predicited Average: 70-75
