Matt Crouch - Adelaide Crows
Position: Midfield
Fan Planner Price:$109,500
Bye: Round 8

Verdict: Some people had Crouch going as high as the top 10 in this years' draft but he ended up going to Adelaide, at pick 23, to join his brother, Brad. If his last name wasn't Crouch, I guarantee you he would've slipped even further down. There have been a few critics of Crouch, due to his kicking, his tank and pace, which ultimately led to him slipping to the Crows.

Nonetheless, because he slipped outside the first round Crouch will be very cheap (priced at $109k on Fan Planner, but he should cost a little more), meaning if he's named in round one, you'd have to consider him. Crouch is a ball magnet, averaging 37 disposals a game at TAC Cup level this year and not collecting less than 32 disposals in his seven games. This resulted in an average of 148 SuperCoach points during the TAC Cup this year, which is massive for a rookie. Crouch is similar to Dane Swan, in how he racks up huge numbers, but doesn't always use the ball well. His kicking efficiency for the U18's Championship was only 69%, which supports my point. However, Crouch should still produce good scores, even if he is suited to Dream Team more than SuperCoach, as he kicks more than he handballs and knows how to find the footy, but he needs to kick more goals, as he only scored one for the season, in the TAC Cup.

Looking forward to 2014, Crouch will have to fight for a spot in the Crows' 22 and even if he does make it he may be used as the sub because of his tank. However, due to his price and his ability to find a lot of the football, you'll have to keep an eye on him during the pre season, as he could potentially be an important cash cow.

2014 Predicited Average: 65-70

I really wish we had full access to the combine stats...

I'd like to know what exactly was his deficiency that made him slip so low :P

like, his disposal efficiency is average, but for a contested ball winner, that's not unexpected.

anyway, wishful thinking :P

Yeah, contested balls winners are always gonna have lower DE than uncontested ball winners, as contested ball winners are almost always under pressure while uncontested aren't so obviously their DE should be better.
There's some info here about Crouch if you want.

Ziplock

' in fact he ran a 3.25 second 20m sprint, ranking in the bottom 7%. '

that's what  Iwas looking for :P

where'd they find that out though?

Yeah, I knew forgot something, his pace was an issue as well.
Iv'e got no idea where they got that info from.  :-\

Ziplock

that's extremely slow though.

like, atm I've got an injured ankle and knee, and I could run the 20m faster than that.

Dayze

Below average in all endurance based testing.
Possibly the worst attribute u could have to b an on ball AFL player.
Strange how he can get so much of the ball tho with a small tank...

Haha, yeah I'd beat him too  ;)

kilbluff1985

will spend a couple of years in the VFL like Grigg did i think similar types of players but Grigg been there longer so should be ahead of him

It's a shame about his tank. rookie priced ball magnet are gold. What's the bet he plays just an annoying amount of games to make him not worth getting this year and an awkward price for next year  >:(

+1, They all seem to do that! One exception is O'Rourke this year and could be a great pick, barley seen any teams with him which is strange at his extremely low price for a top 2 draft pick.

Yeah strongly considering O'rourke

Crouch will be priced at $117k. Not too bad.
