I don't mind it...  :P
That's why you're my favourite, 20 premiership points for you.

The tag still hasn't left me.  :o
I was going to call Nigey a suck up :P.

Guess if you're afraid of some coaches losing interest then can do that. Prefer that format if we are to change compared to the first one. Means there is still something to fight for if put in the last group, rather than just being there.

How will Draft picks work if you make divisions though? Assume there would have to be a bit of tweaking to the normal 18 team system.

How about Group 1

Consists of 18 teams

Top 8 teams make finals.

Happy to hear your thoughts on alternatives Nails.

Should point out that the intent of this is to make it more enjoyable for the bottom 6, not more exclusionary.

Sao Paulo and Mexico City v Beijing and Wellington.... Well, those games are already known basically. CrowsFan and Maca aren't going to let there teams fall into disarray, and Beijing and Wellington are still a while away to becoming competitive.

It will be hard to keep asking the bottom teams to contribute with loud, active and constructive voices week-in, week-out only for them to show up and lose each week (through decisions mostly not there own fault).

I'm sure the top teams don't really enjoy 60 point thrashings each week either.

This method allows each team to play 11 other teams during the season (Group B play all 17), while increasing the chances to win for the bottom teams AND not really impacting the chances of the top teams from making the finals...

So, how about his for finals?

Finalists:
i) - 1st Group A
ii) - 2nd Group A
iii) - 3rd Group A
iv) - 4th Group A

v) - Two of 5th Group A/6th Group A/1st Group B/2nd Group B (depending on where they finished in the Group A v Group B ladder)

vi) Two from the following criteria:
- If 5th Group A or 6th Group A or both didn't make in v), they are compared against 3rd Group B and 4th Group B on the Group A v Group ladder. If they are the higher teams, they make the final 8.
- If one or both aren't, 3rd Group B and 4th Group B are compared against 1st Group C and 2nd Group C, with the teams higher on the Group B v Group C ladder going through.

That probably didn't make any sense, so happy to answer questions.

Every team has a chance, and will win, if they are good enough.

@HP, yeah, can work out the details for draft picks later :P

Starting to get persuaded oss... sounding a little better. The main thing I would want to ensure, is that 18th has the opportunity to win the premiership. If this format was introduced last year when I finished 16th, I would be severely put off for the entire year if I was denied a potential or opportunity for finals.

Sounds like, that is, if I read it right, that is possible in this new format

CrowsFan

But if I have to play all the top teams twice I will most likely lose more games and then I will lose interest :P

And of course I like 60 point wins! Playing the lower teams means I can mix up my squad and play some fringe players who wouldn't normally get a game... ;)

Nails

This takes away the big upsets and the exciting results

Tokyo Samurai (23.20.158) defeated Buenos Aires Armadillos (23.14.152)

That was an exciting game and a Group A vs. Group C

To say something like that won't happen again is daylight robbery.

CrowsFan

Also here's another concern I have. What happens if a team in group A (most likely Dillo's in a season or two) completely dies because they are full of old people and they all retire. They finish last in group a and don't make finals, but I assume they won't get a top 5 draft pick, which would make it very hard for them to rebuild...

Yes, but what's the bigger evil? Big smashings fairly frequently, or the occasional awesome upset not happening?

Yeah good point, we might make draft picks based on total points scored?

You can't go on total points too much imo. Makes Dillos not that strong :o

CrowsFan

You were the 3rd highest scoring team last season nails. How is that not strong?

Nails

Dillos best team overall, total points only look 3rd best ;)

CrowsFan

Please explain how you are the best team overall?

Master Q

Over complicating it.

And underestimating us  :P
