Tom Nicholls burst onto the seen in round 10 against Geelong, with a score of 90, then against North Melbourne with a score of 139. After those to rounds Nicholls was in everyones team, until, eventually, going down injured against Carlton in round 18.

2014 is a whole new year for Nicholls, with guys like Zac Smith and Charlie Dixon at full fitness, it will be hard for him to break his way into the team, unless would want to play Smith, Dixon and Nicholls in the one team, like the Swans played this year with Mumford, Pyke and Tippett.

Nicholls had a pretty good reserves average of 105, even though he wasn't at full fitness in a couple of those games.

I don't think Nicholls can maintain his average set this year, playing in the same team as Smith. I think he'll average about 80.

I don't think Smith will be ready to go come round one.
So if he impresses early he could go ahead of Smith and lock his spot into the side.
Still, I won't be taking the risk.
