Exciting St Kilda draftee Jack Billings has injured a quad muscle during the club's high altitude camp in Colorado.

The No.3 pick at last month's NAB AFL Draft will be eased back into full training after Christmas as part of his preparation for his maiden season at the top level.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson confirmed Billings would return to training in the new year.

hopefully won't be too much of a set back. Don't really expect him to play much next season anyway. Might get a few sub appearances but a year of development in the VFL would help.

ST KILDAS top draft pick Jack Billings wants to add some early-season sparkle to the Saints' forward line after a quick return from a quad problem.

Billings was dealt a nightmare pre-season blow when the No.3 selection suffered a thigh strain on the second last session of the club's altitude camp in Colorado.

But the silky ball-user, rated one of the most brilliant and creative goalkickers in the country last year, has already resumed full training, defying predictions he could be sidelined for months.

The swift comeback is a welcome boost for a man who will be one of the key pillars and public faces of club's rebuilding phase, after finishing third-last with five wins last year.

He is a great fantasy prospect.

I agree, wish he wasn't so expensive because he'll be a very good player.

If he can score like Stevie J in his rookie season, that would be wonderful  :P

wouldnt be that excited about him in his first season. Was injured majority of last year, had an interrupted pre-season. Is going to be a super player but expecting only a few sub performances in his first season.

Dunstun seems a better pick of the bunch for fantasy prospects

Nobody talking about Mr Acres? I think we all expect Dunstan to play but Acres is a big boy also

Billings? Freak yeah, but can he handle not being the dominant one and play with men?

He had shoulder surgery mid-late last year and spent most of the summer recovering from it still. Wouldn't expect him to be there for round 1.

I think Acres is more of a project player. He's big in terms of his height but needs to put in more muscle. Theres no doubting his skills as he can play almost anywhere but just needs to bulk up or he'll get monstered

has kicked 4 goals in the last quarter to get Sandy up. all class. 5 for the game

get excited fellas 8)

I'll admit it.. I doubted him when I saw him in preseason and also in Round 1. But that game he played was as good as you'll see from a second gamer

just looked a little unsure of himself in the first game (only played one quarter of footy though)

that game against Essendon will do absolute wonders for his confidence. he knows what he has to do, and he knows he can do it. seriously love this kid, he's my new favourite player. and that's after just watching 5 quarters. serious gun.
