Brandon Ellis - Richmond Tigers
Position: Midfield (I think he will lose his defender status)
Fan Planner Price:$437,100
Bye: Round 8

2013 Average: 81.6
2013 Unsubbed Average: 99.2 (15 unsubbed games)
Tons: 7
2013 Games: 20

2012 Average: 56.1
2012 Unsubbed Average: 61.5 (17 unsubbed games)
Tons: 0
2012 Games: 21

Verdict: Ellis had a slow start to the year, being subbed off in round one after a disappointing game, which resulted in him starting as the sub for the next three games. But after this he was finally given a chance to play a full game and flourished. Ellis really stood up in 2013, taking his game to the next level in what was only his second year of senior football. Ellis went on to average 99 when you take out his five sub affected games, which is quite impressive for a youngster. In 2014 Ellis won't be cheap anymore and I don't think he'll be such a good buy as a midfielder only. Teams will start to tag him as his run and carry is vital to the Richmond and when he was tagged this year he struggled with the attention. I think it will be a tougher year for Ellis, but one which will help him build a fine career. I think he will struggle with the tag (Andrew Gaff 2013), but if he learns how to deal with it he will be a fine fantasy player, as he racks up huge numbers, takes plenty of marks, kicks goals and generally uses the ball well. He's definitely a player to watch in the future, but in 2014, I think there are other options that are better than Ellis, such as Dayne Beams who is priced similarly or you're also better off paying the extra cash for a true premium who will be much more consistent.

2014 Predicited Average: 83-88

Surely Cotchin and Deledio will cop the tags ahead of Ellis?

Teams can tag one of Cotch and Lids and then Ellis.
For example, Carlton decided to send Curnow to Cotch then put Armfield on Ellis.
I don't think he'll get tagged every week but he'll definitely get more attention in 2014.

Gun.  He will learn how to handle the tag.

I think 95 - 100 in 2014.

Quite possible, I'd be very happy for you to be right as I'm a Tigers supporter.

 :)
Have him down as a watch, but he has a golden ?  next to his name.    ;)

If he's a defender I'm getting him. He is a ball magnet and absolutely smashing pre season apparently

Will definitely come under consideration if he can be picked as a defender. Leaked info has him as just a mid though, hopefully it's wrong :P

Vinny

The tag will hurt him. Good player tho.

Ricochet

I can't justify picking him as a mid only. Too many other underpriced proven premos

Jroo

He's one of my favourites and I love him for what he produced this year, but I'll picking someone like Beams or Daisy.
As a defender I probably would've picked him though.

I don't think it will. He will only get tagged once a blue moon as teams will look to tag lids, cotchin, and Martin all before him. They can't tag them all.

As a mid though I don't think you an pick him. It's a shame, I was really hoping he would keep defender status

Vinny

Yeah but when he gets tagged, he can't handle it and goes missing as do alot of players hence why he is too risky. Even as a defender in my opinion. There are plenty of options out there just as good that Dont cop a tag.

I dunno about that. From memory he's only been tagged once in his short career by Armfield. That's probably why it's stuck in your head. Carlton seemed to just tag everyone last season. Even Gibbs was doing tagging roles  :o most teams won't tag that many players. Someone will always go to Lids and Cotchin but Ellis will get off the hook almost every week

Vinny

Fair enough but that happened at the end of the season, who's to say it won't happen again as other teams may have seen this. Just saying, it's too risky for me. No doubt he is a good player.
