Sydney/West Coast grand finals were midfield duels

Hawthorn were the best offensive team for this year Freo were the best defensive team of the year, Offensive won

Geelong were the second best offensive team (behind the bulldogs) up against the best defensive team in St Kilda in 09 again the best defensive team lost

Even in 11 Geelong were the best offensive team and Collingwood were the best defensive team again the best defensive team lost

Sort of off topic, because it's soccer, but defenders get little recognition,(no matter how good they are), but the forwards get, top goalscorer awards, golden boot awards, where as the defender gets jack. Yes, I was defender, but that's not the point lol. The guy every club wants, is a goal scorer. I realise it's got bugger all to do with this discussion, but every sport has their most want'ed. Afl loves a great midfielder, but a Glass or Carey, a club  wouldn't refuse

Yeah and top thread too mate! No doubt our tackling was below par and is the key area along with fitness which has been addressed

Two guys we picked up also, lil Charlie and Brother Matt are tackling machines, can't wait for March 8)
