can someone tell the truth what is going please.  Seems like Demetriou may have dug himself a hole and trying to use dynamite to blast him out of it if Tania Hird can be believed. Dynamite being the monthly payments.

Agree Ringo this is more confusing than an episode of jersey shore trust no one, but hopefully this will get put to rest soon not a good image for afl

What do you think happens when you break the rules?

You get dealt with fairly and completely without any bias or influence from other parties... is that too much to ask for?

The rules are quiet clear if Essendon can't understand the rules maybe they would be better off employing a chimpanzee to handle their legal department.

Why is it you think everyone is bias towards Essendon

Bulldogs were found guilty of breaking the rules they got fined

Adelaide were found guilty of breaking the rules they got fined

Carlton were found guilty of breaking the rules they got fined

Kurt Tippet was found guilty of breaking the rules he got fined

Ahmed Saad was found guilty of breaking the rules he got fined

So much bias so little time

ASADA should just ban the whole club.
Surely no fan of the game can genuinely want this result.
Not only would it indicate something far more sinister was occurring than is currently known, but it would result in serious financial repercussions (clubs such as your own are largely supported by larger clubs such as Essendon) throughout the league and thin the talent pool fairly considerably.
+1 Sid, as much as I don't like Essendon it would be terrible for everyone.

About time so we can all find out what is going on.

Interesting comment from Fahey that the AFL regarded as a "sacred cow"

What I can gather is, Essendon can pay Hird what they like in 2013, but not be able to pay him in 2014. Seems a very simple set of circumstances I thought. But (not sure about this ) they could of paid Hirds 2014 salary in 2013, as in they  could of upped his pay this year to compensate for next year. Is this correct? Doesn't a 12 month suspension, mean you are suspended from the club full stop. Surely if this is the case, it's a joke

Does anything anywhere address the potential harm / risk to the players?
Who let it happen?

yeah, the article ringo posted

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-12-13/bombers-charges-imminent-fahey

does.

He says how it's ridiculous that essendon could give 4000+ injections to players, the composition of which is unknown, except that it was not approved for human consumption, and not have WorkSafe Victoria smashing heads in... hence the sacred cow comment.

He's completely right as well...

I mean, ignoring the performance enhancing aspect, the drugs they gave were not approved for humans, and by injecting them significantly risked the players (essendon's employees) safety.

Please also find below the club statement in relation to the terms of James Hird's suspension:

This matter has been an unprecedented situation for the Essendon Football Club and for the AFL to deal with.

Whilst it is acknowledged that James Hirds pay wasn
