Cameron Wood

#19   Carlton Blues

Height: 204cm

Weight: 95kg

DOB: 03-04-1987

Age: 26

Drafted: Round 2, Pick #28 2013 Rookie Draft

Position: Ruckman

HISTORY:

Wood was recruited by Brisbane as the number 18 draft pick in the 2004 AFL Draft from West Adelaide. He made his debut for the Brisbane Lions in Round 5, 2005 against West Coast Eagles. In Round 2, 2007, he earned an AFL Rising Star nomination for his efforts in a 52-point victory over St Kilda playing as a ruckman.

On 11 October 2007, Wood was officially traded to Collingwood for the Magpies' highest draft selection, number 14. Collingwood acquired Wood to bolster their ruck division and provide back up for Josh Fraser.

Wood played few games in the Magpies 2010 premiership season and 2011 season due in large to the teams ruck options being bolstered by the recruitment of Darren Jolly and the decision to play utility Leigh Brown as second ruckman. With Fraser's departure to the Gold Coast Suns and Leigh Brown's retirement. Wood was kept out of the Magpie's side for most of the 2012 season with Chris Dawes and Darren Jolly playing as ruckmen for most of the season, he only managed to play in 6 matches.

He was delisted on the 29th of October, 2012 after 48 games for Collingwood. During the 2013 season, he played for Williamstown in the VFL.

2014 Carlton Fixture:

PORT, RIC, ESS, MEL, WB, WC, COL, STK, BYE, ADE, BRI, GEE, HAW, GWS, COL, STK, SYD, NTH, FRE, GC, GEE, POR, ESS

SUMMARY:

Wood was picked up in the Rookie Draft by his old mate Malthouse, he wasn't picked up for no reason so he should get games in 2014 playing as a back-up Ruckman/Forward ?

How many games will Wood play ? even if he only plays 10 games he will still be a good R4 possibly even R3 see how he goes in the pre-season.

At a rock bottom price Wood will be hard to go past especially if named round 1.

PLAYER PROFILE UPDATE:  24/12/2013 ... Wood is valued at $285,300 for some strange reason and will not be Fantasy relevant in 2014.

nrich102

Don't think he'll get many games, but may slip into my team at R4

Kellogscrunchynut

Would make our lives a lot easier if he made the team round 1, doubt that will happen though. I can see him getting games and looming as a downgrade target.

truBLUE

wondering if he may start as that tall fwd ,,, doubt it though  ???

Noz

Malthouse said he is the best ruck man outside the AFL.

He dominated the VFL this year should get games.

Jroo

Nice work FF.
Hard to see Wood getting too many games unless Warnock or Kreuzer get injured.

██████████

hes better than Rowe and Casboult so he should get at least 10 games throughout the season. a lock if named round one

Ricochet

Pretty pricey at 285k... Would much rather Longer for nearly 100k less

Longer at R2 for me, for someone who is 194k even if he averages 70 i'l be happy

Sandi for me. At 244k he is def worth the risk for 6ish games to get a couple of price rises and then offload

Oh for some reason I thought he would be rookie priced. He's not in the fanplanner so are you sure on the price?

Ricochet

Yeh yesterday Too Serious leaked the full list of positions and pricing for DT. Rookies are very expensive now. For example, Jack Martin is 268k
