Ugh, no. Please don't do this.  :(

We want Batman and The Tank!

Toga

Dunno about this, seeing as we just recruited three small/medium forwards in the National Draft last week I think we'll almost have a surplus in this position...

Titch, King, Knights, A.Edwards, Lennon, Gordon, Lloyd (+Arnot/Dusty/whoever else that could play here) fighting it out for probably three positions.

Would rather us look at guys like Tank & Batsi tbh.

That might be the reasoning behind it then. Recognize the weakness in the structure, recruit a few players who play that role, then the best of this group fills that role and fixes the weakness

Toga

Yeah that's fair enough if we thought "Hmm well we are short on smaller forwards, let's recruit some" and went into the National Draft with that mindset... But now we have three more players of that position, do we really need another one?

I'd say we need mids like Thomas/Batsanis or a KPD like Toohey more than another small forward now...???

Ringo

You can have him - Dud clogging up our list

JBs-Hawks

Gets rid of Nahas, brings in Banfield  ???

Small forwards are different to the mid sized forwards though. Our only specialist small forward is King really and he's winding down. The recruitment of Gordon and Lloyd help but more depth in that position can't hurt.
Banfield has shown glimpses, he could come good with a fresh start. Plus Richmond love a red head

Ringo

Selected him with your 1st round pick.

TBH I expected Banfield to thrive on the challenge Green threw out but he appeared to stagnate and green went passed him.  With a new start at a new club he may be rejuvenated.

He really shone in 2012 and if he can regain that form for you will be a solid get.

Nige

He definitely has the talent and potential to be a very good player.

Toga

Yeah as you say Ringo hopefully he will thrive with the competition for a spot he will face from Titch, King, McDonough and Lloyd. Wasn't sure on him but I guess it's a gamble we can afford to take as we aren't really losing anything from the situation.

Kellogscrunchynut

See how he goes its a rookie draft pick so low risk.

Not sure about this.  I would rather we focus our attention elsewhere.  I'm all for healthy competition, but we've already brought in three players similar to him, so I'm not sure what else he can really offer.  Would certainly help our depth, but I think we should look at other targets first at the very least.

EDIT:  Just saw that we've already picked him up.  :-[

I'm still gonna spend the whole of 2014 wondering what could have been if we rookie listed Batsanis instead of Banfield though...  :(

TheAnt

Lennon, Gordon, Lloyd are hardly like for like to Banfield. Really? Batsanis is alright, would be good for the VFL team and that's about it.
