AHMED Saad has been informed of his fate after a hearing of the AFL's Anti-Doping Tribunal hearing earlier this month, AFL.com.au understands.

The delisted St Kilda forward was hopeful of being re-drafted by the club in Wednesday's rookie draft.

Saad's management confirmed the ball was in the player's court, indicating it was considering a response.

Under ASADA rules, all parties have 21 days to respond to the Tribunal ruling,  meaning the AFL and St Kilda could not comment when contacted on Tuesday.

So we still have to wait to find out what the outcome is

QuoteThe St Kilda Football Club can confirm that Ahmed Saad has today received an 18 month suspension from the AFL Tribunal after he inadvertently took a substance on the AFL Anti-Doping prohibited list.

he's really unlucky but I guess it was the right decision. I guess this makes it okay to inject drugs into your system, just don't drink a sports drink.

Ricochet

To be fair though, he was warned by the club about it and still took it

I don't really know the full story behind it and can't really be bothered reading anything about it.. just strikes me as funny circumstances. one guy (more than one actually) injects drugs into his system, another guy drinks a sports drink.

I like and respect Watson, this isn't about him at all.. but put the two incidents side by side and the sports drink guy gets 18 months?

This is really Saad but if you do the crime you have to do the time.

Vinny

Unfortunate for him, but gotta pay the price. Hopefully he can come and play after this. He would obviously be very disappointed.

The Essendon saga isn't over yet mate, ASADA still to hand down their decision.

ohkay thanks mate, I don't really keep up to date with most of these things :P

for the record I hope Watson is cleared and gets to keep his Brownlow medal, absolutely nothing against Watson. only brought it up as a sort of similar scenario

Well this is why you don't do performance enhancing drugs in an obvious manner

I'd say it's pretty safe to say Ahmeed is feeling quite saad about this right now.

He wasn't picked up in the rookie draft. Does this mean he's no longer a saint?
