Blue Boys - Coach Vinny

Starting off:

Finally thought I'd give this a crack, in this thread I will keep track of my team and thoughts behind my moves. Hopefully I can keep it up to date throughout the year. Couldn't be stuffed putting it into the flanplanner again as I know I can afford it on there. Obviously when the real prices and things come out but here is the first draft.

Few things I think will happen:

- Rocky will lose DPP, yet I am picking him regardless.
- Not sure on Dusty keeping DPP either.
- Expecting Gibbs & Goddard to lose it but McVeigh & Simpson to gain it.

Draft #1

D- Jared McVeigh, Kade Simpson, Michael Hibberd, Grant Birchall, Matt Suckling, Matt Scharenberg.
     Luke McDonald, Kade Kolodjashnij.
M- Joel Selwood, Scott Pendlebury, Jobe Watson, Tom Rockliff, Dayne Beams, Dom Tyson, James Aish, Luke Dunstan.
     Jack Martin, Dayle Garlett.
R- Todd Goldstein, Nicholas Naitanui
     Jack Lesle, Liam McBean.
F- Matthew Pavlich, Lance Franklin, Dale Thomas, Dustin Martin, Shuan Higgins, Viv Michie.
    Jesse Hogan, Mitch Thorp.

Obviously rookies aren't set in place, this will do for now, don't care about nailing rookies yet. Few things that might change is the ruckmen, don't know if I will go Goldy yet but don't see a better option, not convinced by Sandi, HMac or Grundy. Still not 100% sure on whether I will go Ablett or Watson but I might be forced to go Watson for cash. Have not worked out byes and shower but I think I'm fine at this stage.

Thoughts appreciated. :)

Very good start Vinny for a first up attempt all lines look strong , good to see a team with 2 quality rucks can't really fault it at this stage no point making comments about rookies at the moment well done 9/10

GoLions

I think the ONLY change I would personally make, would be to swap Buddy for another forward (possibly Gunston), but that's just me. Reckon you've just about nailed it Vinnamon :D
Maybe Hibberd to Scotty Thompson or Hanley (if he keeps DPP)

Would probably give it a 9.75/10

Vinny

Cheers mate, yeah rookies will be confirmed come Round 1. :)

Vinny

Thanks Dave :)

I am pretty keen on Hibberd as he is Mr Consistent, not to keen on Hanley but Thompson may be an option.

Yeah hmmm, not sure on Buddy either. Dont know mate, maybe Motlop, he did well at the end of the year. Cheers! 8)

GoLions

Yeah, I just don't see Buddy averaging above around 95 with the amount of players at the Swans who should also go really well. Motlop definitely an option, think he'll go really well next year

Vinny

Yep, we will see. Plenty of time, cheers man! :)

Love it Vin! Great choices in defence, love the pick of Simpson but not totally sold on Hibberd (not sure whether he will be a top 6 defender next year but that's just my opinion). Good rookie selections mate!

Midfield looks like a ripper, pretty much the same as mine, hey? Haha, I think you're missing one rookie in there too mate, looks like you only have 7 on field.

Rucks are good, not sure Goldy is the way to go next year (one can only feel that Majak and Currie will get more of a run, on top of Goldy's workload that wasn't managed very well last year, but he has gone over 110 in two of the last three years so I could be wrong)

Forwards look good, only pick there is Higgins, (he should wrap himself in cotton wool and never set foot on a field again), soooooo injury prone.

Overall mate, it's a bloody good team on paper, much improvement from this time last year! Haha, good luck for 2014 I think you're gonna do extremely well mate.

Vinny

Haha thanks heaps mate, as always you got a cheer from me. 8)

I am quite confident Hibberd will go well next year, he was super consistent in 2013 and with a better Essendon side, expecting Top 4 from them by the way, think he will go from that early 90s consistency to perhaps a 100-105.

Haha yeah think it's the same, just chucked in a rookie from your team, Luke Dunstan. Great minds think alike! Doubt he will be there Round 1 though. If I can afford Claye Beams, might put him in but yeah don't know yet.

Goldy is an interesting one, as you said his scores depend on if Majak gets a go or not, the new interchange cap might mean he will. Still don't know, not going near Leuy, McEvoy, Kreuzer or Mumford because two ruck strategy may come into play for the teams they play for. Never thought I'd say this but maybe Sam Jacobs! :o

Hahaha, knew someone would say that. I only need him to play until the bye, surely that can't be too hard. Well it's either him or Fasolo or even a rookie. Not sure at this stage, hope he finally can string 10 games together straight if its possible.

Thanks champ! Hahaha hope so man. :)

Vinny

I think I am going to get rid of Buddy now, not sure who to go with though. :P

Motlop or Gunston?

Praying Walker somehow gets D/F, if so Andy is coming straight in! 8)

I'm pretty sure I have Gunston in my team currently, so I'm gonna say him

Vinny

Hmmm, thanks man. Yeah I guess he should get more opportunity with Buddy gone but I don't know. :P

Bones Bombers

Good first draft Vin, structure is solid.
No offence meant but i find it funny that GoLions tried to talk you out of Hibbo because he won't finish top 6 (I don't think he will) but then suggests Gunston as a forward. Big punt to suggest he will finish top 6.
Hard to predict who will finish top 6-8 in each position until DPPs are confirmed. Midfielders who can be used back or forward should score the best of course. Guys like Bartel, Walker, McVeigh, Mitchell, Rocky, DMartin. Ruck/Forwards like Cox and Nic Nat can score well too.
I'm working on a team with that in mind at the moment but may need to wait for SC to open. Hopefully only about 3 weeks away.
I'm sure our teams will be way different come round 1, but hey we're having fun!
Best of luck Bud!

Vinny

Cheers champ, yeah most of it is just waiting for the real prices and positions to come but I would be stoked to have this team in Round 1. Good luck to you too man :)

Not taking anything away from Hibberd, think he'll go really well next year.

I also never said Gunston would finish top 6, however I think he has potential to do better than Buddy, and I have him in my team myself.
