Negative talk on Murphy...?

Whats with all the negative talk about this bloke lately?
Yes he had a bad season and only averaged 92 last year. but the bloke is under 500kand if you cant remember before last year he was pretty decent averaging the following:

2012 - 113
2011 - 118
2010 - 112
2009 - 113
2008 - 99

Thats a pretty decent resume in my opinion!

Yeah, I see him averaging 100. That's why I'll consider him, don't know if I'll fit him in though.

I am extremely confident he will be better next year, Daisy and the improving midfielders around him will help and he will be very keen on breaking the tag as he has something to prove. Captain of the club, he improves, Carlton improves. Think he can go 105 or 115 depends. In saying that though, I will not start him. I just don't have space. :-[

If he proves himself, breaks the tag and all. He will be in my squad after the bye. He is still a gun! 8)

By the way, Rico you should quote your point before with Murphy not being bad in 2013 because of the tag. The list with his scores and the tag he got. That should help people a fair bit in making their decision. :)

I had mundy this season and it wasn't worth it.
A player going up from 92 to 100 is not really a win in ur midfield. Its not a breakout.
Par for murph is 105 which he should do.
At the same time rockliff could go from 108 to 118 and that's a win.
U don't wanna end up with a player in ur team come finals who isn't in the top 8-10 in their position.
if u feel murphy will, which he possibly could then go for it. a lot of us however do not.

Yeah that's fair enough, obviously there is risk and I am not 100% convinced he will be a Top 8 midfielder especially with the other rising talent that won't cop #1 tags at their clubs like Beams, Libba, Sloane, Barlow etc.

Like I said I won't start him because its too risky but it could pay off. :)

MMurphy is the best value of all midfielders this year

He was pretty good value this time last year too. Glad I didn't pick him then. What will change? Really tempted but the tag ,the tag!

Tag wasn't the issue this year, injury and an unsettled team were.

2009: 112ave
2010: 111
2011: 118
2012: 112
2013: 92

Yes Beams is also up there. Biggest locks of 2014 for me

Aswell as those two things, tags were an issue too. Murphy is a gun but as the tag has moved from Judd to Murphy, his scoring has declined a little. He will be better next year no doubt, but I can't fit him as much as I love him. :(
