#9 Gary Ablett Jnr - Gold Coast Suns

Name: Gary Ablett Jnr
Age: 29 years, 6 months
Team: Gold Coast
Position: Midfield
Bye: Round 8

2013 Low: 67
2013 High: 178
2013 Average: 128.86
2013 Pre-Bye Average: 138.3
2013 Post-Bye Average: 116.3

Fanplanner Price: $689,600

Predicted average: 120-125ppg

Verdict: His post bye average combined with his bye will make many super coaches question whether or not they should start with the little master that is Gary Ablett. For me, Beams is a must and then 2 of Ablett, Pendlebury, Selwood and Swan, otherwise you'll be in some serious trouble come the round 8 bye. I see similarities between starting Ablett this year and starting Buddy last year, many will simply be too scared not to start him but as we all know, starting Buddy was a mistake. Will GAJ be in your team? I'm still very much undecided

Crowley RD2 is putting a little doubt in my mind

He has done it  year in year out can't see much changing first picked .

You have to lock him in, but he leaving him out would be a good POD.

Sabretooth Tigers

 :o :o
Wasn't he said to have a problem behind his knee or knees when his form dropped off late last season ??
He could be expensive. He could be over priced. He could be tagged by 3 players at a time. But he is still Garry Ablett younger, and still worth the no.1 mantle. The only sane reason for leaving him out would be if he weren't playing. First player picked, price no object.    ;)

Only one of him and pendles for me, and youth of the collingwood star puts him ahead IMO

Judging by the teams I've seen HAVING him may be a good POD. I'm not going to bother trying to convince people to select by FAR the best player in the comp. He picks himself and solves the captaincy conundrum MOST of the time. Leave him out at ur own peril.

YOUTH? GAJs Class outweighs any supposed age advantage. He's only 30 for heavens sake. He's just hit his prime.

Vinny

Haha settle down mate. He is a champ but I think of a few good reasons to leave him out this year. Risky but could pay off :)

Holz

Currently out of my squad and normally I just auto lock him. The reasons not to pick him are mounting.

Age, rise of others, bye, tough tagger run early. Will be saving up my pennies to bring him in round 9.

TeeJay

Lol at people taking "taggers" into consideration when deciding weather to get Ablett. When have taggers ever bothered Ablett? :o
He will run rings around all of them, including the best. Crowley.

The only minor concern is that the GC finally do what they keep saying they are going to and sit him forward a bit more and let the young mids step up. They have talked about it every week though for 3 years and it never happens. He's still the best player in the game, just won the brownlow so is definitely showing no signs of slowing down. He's actually a bargain because if anything because of his late season form slump which was apparently only due to him carrying an injury anyway.
He's locked in like every other year. Can't believe there's even a discussion on it  ::) happens every pre season and the minority that don't end up starting him look like dills pretty early on

Agree with TeeJay :o

Raines won't go to Gaz, not so sure on Crowley, but Raines will go to Prestia/Bennell/JOM/Martin. Redden will probably get a run with eole with him though.

Raines has gone to Ablett every time they have played and he has done a pretty good job on him

Since joining the Suns Ablett has averaged 107 points against Brisbane and every time Raines has tagged him.

Ablett has averaged 112 against the Lions in the past 7 years.

Showing even before Raines came to the club Ablett doesnt like playing the Lions.

Andrew Raines dominates Gary Ablett
