Congratulations tou our recruiting deaprtment as we have come out of the draft very well.  We have drafted suitable replacements for the go home cry babies. (Have not replaced Longer though and will not surprise to see us rookie draft Archie Smith).

With Merrett, Patful and maguire all turning 30 and defenders leaving it was imperative that we drafted tall defenders which we did. Aish and Taylor imo were 2 of the steals of the draft.

Pick 7 James Aish - http://www.lions.com.au/news/2013-11-21/pick-7-

Pick 22 Darcy Gardiner - http://www.lions.com.au/news/2013-11-21/pick-22

Pick 25 Daniel McStay - http://www.lions.com.au/news/2013-11-21/pick-25

Pick 28 Lewis Taylor - http://www.lions.com.au/news/2013-11-21/pick-28

Pick 33 Tom Cutler - http://www.lions.com.au/news/2013-11-21/pick-33

Pick 34 Nick Robertson - http://www.lions.com.au/news/2013-11-21/pick-34

With Taylor and Gardiner both from Geelong Falcons there will be some bonding to counteract go home factor.

I rate our drafting 8.5/10

Aish is a great get mate. Would of loved him to be a Crow but sadly was never going to happen.

Lewis Taylor at 28 when a lot thought he would go to the Giants at 14 still amazes me.

Kellogscrunchynut

Tom Culter slid a bit also, I reckon the Lions will be doing everything they can to keep these lads.

giving them matches would be the first thing to do. most of them will get a bit of game time next year i'd say

Justin Bieber

Aish is mates with Mayes, so hopefully Mayes talks him into staying.

I think it's safe to say that McStay will never leave. Imagine the headlines if he did.......

QuoteJames Aish

"If I got drafted by an Adelaide club I reckon there would have been some extra pressure on me so it is probably good to get out and go make a name for myself somewhere else," he said.

"This way I can be judged purely on what I do, not on what my family have done.

"I've always got great support from my family. I always wanted to play footy but there was never any pressure. They have always been happy to pass on advice and help me any way possible."

Toga

Can you give Aish back to Norwood pls and thank you :)

Final paragraph of the article interesting.

After all, the 2013 National Draft's first selection, Tom Boyd, listed Gardiner as his toughest opponent at junior level - setting up a potential long term rivalry between the respective big men from the Lions and Giants.

Wish this copy and paste would be fixed 4 attempts to get the article right.
