#183
Swedish Metal- Nails
Predicted ranking: 2nd (1547)

Team:

Backs: Enright (82), Murphy (80), Bartel (95), Mcpharlin (78)
Newman, Lake, Batchelor, Grimes, Cutier

Mids: Johnson (C, 242), Swan (120), Montagna (105), Cooney (100)
Thompson, Cross, Hayes, Mclean, Sexton, Mooney, Hewett

Ruck: Cox (98)
Minson, Martin, Lever, McBean

Fwd: Riewoldt (100), Parker (90), Lynch (80), Hale (80)
Brown, Riewoldt, Bock, Giansiracusa, Staker, Blease, Sumner, White

Util: Minson (95), Dal Santo (102)

Analysis:

Easily one of  the strongest teams in the comp- the only criticism you can heap on Sweden is how old most of its best 15 and first choice depth is, and the subsequent chance for large drops in scoring from what are currently it's stars.

Backs: It's a pretty good backline. Murphy's out with injury for a while though, and Newman might miss the first couple of weeks, which could test their depth early on. But when firing, it's a solid line- not many teams can boast a backline with 4 players either over, or close to 80. Although, the backline best highlights Sweden's weakness, with from their best 6, the youngest player being Bartel at 31. Grimes is really  the only solid future on this line.

Mids: We know Stevie J is a scoring machine when he's on the park, and Swan's the greatest DTer ever. Montagna, Cooney should continue to contribute solidly, while imo NDS will jump back to the hundred mark at the roos. Thompson, Cross, Hayes and Mclean round out probably the best midfield depth in the competition. The core of this midfield should be premium for at least another couple of years, and could very well hold Sweden up.

Rucks: Cox and Minson are beasts.  Martin's shower though (I thought he was at another club...), and Mcbean/ Lever are pretty raw.

Forwards: Riewoldts a champ, and probably will be until his knee gives out permanently. Parker was really a short term solution- he'll be great this year, and may even post a 100 average, but he'll lose eligibility next year with more midfield time. Although, it's what Sweden needed to really challenge for the premiership. Lynch out for a while is going to hurt- coverwise, Brown and Gia are a bit beyond it, and Bock/ Jvoldt are souch and go. Hale at an 80 mark is about the best you can expect from him. I don't know what White that is, but Blease and Sumner seem to be more impact players atm rather than solid scorers.

Summary: Nails built this team to win a premiership this year, and with any luck, next year as well. While anything can happen finals time, or injury wise, Sweden are one of the best positioned teams for immediate premiership success. When the Metal bottom out though, it's going to be brutal, and I wouldn't be very surprised to see Nails make a Ross Lyon exit for someone else to pick up the pieces

(No offence, but it'll be hard going from dominating week in, week out, to being dominated.).

Lynch is out? When did he get injured?

i flowering hate the NAB cup. Taking all my best players. IDK if it took Lynch but it's taking others  >:(

Also you severely underrate McPharlin. He's our best defender.

83 average without his 0 concussion sub game.

Some fair criticisms but I plan on sticking around. Building it up is half the fun.

The future is already there. Sexton, Mooney, Hewett all 2016 100 average players. Cutler and Grimes stars to be.

Was it intentional to do half the team up the top and half down the bottom ?
