Ringo

He was brought in as a forward Nigey and is another to add to the mix. Really like our depth this year across the park.

Staker at 196cm and McGuanne at 192cm provide Brisbane with three talls up front, Is that a bit much coupled with Berger resting up forward as well. May be an overkill. Not sure whether West has the capabilities of playing forward.
Will be interesting to see our forawrd structure for Round 1.
Maybe something like... Brown, Staker, McGuanne play fwd. Leuey and West rotate through the bench. Then in the 3rd West is subbed out for a runner and Leuey carries the workload for a quarter and a bit. Have seen similar work well before. But then your relying on no injuries

CrowsFan

Where does Paparone fit in to the forward structure, if at all? Or still a season or two away?

he's fairly thin for a forward. probably another year beefing up and he'll be pushing for selection

Luke Mcguanne at CHF. Surely not  :o that's a worry
Where would you play him? ???

In the reserves...

Herald Sun believe this to be Brisbane's best 22. Personally i think there are a couple of notable omissions, but I don't know the Lions team too well.

B: Joel Patfull, Daniel Merrett, Mitch Golby
HB: Daniel Rich, Justin Clarke, Pearce Hanley
C: James Aish, Tom Rockliff, Sam Mayes
HF: Dayne Zorko, Marco Paparone, Josh Green
F: Lewis Taylor, Jonathan Brown, Trent West
Foll: Matthew Leuenberger, Jack Redden, Brent Moloney

Int: Brent Stake, Ryan Lester, Jed Adcock, Claye Beams

Ready to Fly: James Aish

Ringo

#21
Think this one ia a way off:

This is how I think Brisbane will line up based on current form and reputaions:

B: Joel Patfull, Daniel Merrett, Ryan Harwood
HB: Mitch Golby, Jed Adcock, Daniel Rich
c: Pearce Hanley, Tom Rockliff, Sam Mayes
HF: Dayne Zorko, Jackson Paine, Ryan Lester
F: Brent Staker, Johnathan Brown, Joshua Green
Foll: Matthew Leuenberger, Jack Reddan, Brent Moloney

Int: Justin Clarke, Claye Beams. Michael Close, Trent West

Luke McGuanne and Jordan Lisle will be in contention with Jackson Paine for the CHF position.  Will be decided on Preseason form.
Claye Beames and James Aish will be competing for the one spot on bench as well.

Other unlucky players would be Matt Maguire and  Ash McGrath who would have been automatic selections in the past,

Well you've actually got 19 of the same players as the HS team, some in different positions of course. Although you have actually only named 21 players since you have Harwood in the back pocket and on the bench...

Positioning is more important and my error the extra player on bench would be Michael Close but coule well be Aish instead, Depends on team balance

Honey Badger

Agree positioning is more important. Can't believe they had Paparone as the CHF. He is a few years away from being that!

Indeed. I think Lisle or close will fight for the CHF spot for round 1. Paparone is another bulking year away

Ringo

Yes paprone is still preety raw in body strength.  This is one of the reasons why we signed McGuanne imo while Paporone and freeman developed to cover for a couple of years,

Paine has looked good in training Strikes so may get the nod ahead of Close who I would have on bench anyway.

I came up with this best 22 today. What do people think?

FB: Joel Patfull, Daniel Merrett, Mitch Golby

HB: Jed Adcock, Justin Clarke, Ryan Harwood

C: Pearce Hanley, Tom Rockliff, Daniel Rich

HF: Sam Mayes, Luke McGuane, Dayne Zorko

FF: Josh Green, Jonathan Brown, Brent Staker

R: Matthew Leuenberger, Jack Reddan, Brent Moloney

I: Ryan Lester, Trent West, James Aish, Claye Beams

Vinny

I thought not all three of Beams, Aish and Mayes would play. I knew Mayes was easily best 22 but then I figured that Aish and Beams would fight for one spot.

That's sort of what I was thinking, and I would probably drop Beams first, but I'm not sure if there is anyone more deserving of a spot right now?
