Gardiner will be close to the best 22 already. I reckon Merrett is set for a year up front and Gardiner will come in as the key defender you guys need.

Him, Clarke and Patful can get the job done each week.

Merrett to play full forward

Thoughts?

I think Maguire is still probably a bit ahead of Gardiner, and I don't think Merrett will go forward too often, as Lisle/Paparone/Close/Freeman/Bourke are all developing as key forwards and Inthink if they need another forward they maight get used instead of Merrett.

Nice Team Strikes

Think Maguire may still be in the 22 possibly at the expense of Bewick with mayes moving foirward Hanley to mids and Maguire in defence.

Really starting to like our depth and good to see we have recruited to cover our aging defence as there is not a lot in reserve there following the departures apart from Wearden.

the depth is fantastic isnt it. I know they're not world class but they don't have to be. what teams exactly need.

Here is the AFL Prediction of our Round 1 22

B Mitch Golby, Daniel Merrett, Joel Patfull
HB Ryan Harwood, Justin Clarke, Jed Adcock
C James Aish, Daniel Rich, Pearce Hanley
HF Dayne Zorko, Luke McGuane, Sam Mayes
F Josh Green, Jonathan Brown, Brent Staker
R Matthew Leuenberger, Brent Moloney, Tom Rockliff
INT Trent West, Jack Redden, Ryan Lester
SUB Lewis Taylor

NOTES: The back six looks fairly settled with Justin Clarke likely to edge out veteran Matt Maguire for the role of second tall defender. First-round draft pick James Aish is ready to go, while free-agent recruit Luke McGuane will battle Jordan Lisle to partner Jonathan Brown in the forward line. The biggest decision for new coach Justin Leppitsch will be whether he wants to play a genuine back-up ruckman behind Matthew Leuenberger, in which case Trent West would play. - Michael Whiting

Team to me looks a little unbalanced - Harwood should be on bench with Maguire in his place. Bewick may be forced out by Mayes to allow Aish to play.  Toss up between McGuanne and West to play CHF.  Apart from that reasonable team.

Do you expect West to play a fair bit Ringo?

Leppa has said he wants to use a 2 ruck strategy so suspect West will get chance.  Will probably depend who performs the better preseason Stefan Martin or West, I initially had West at FF but with Leppa announcing Brown will spend a lot more time deep forawrd he may become a bench player.

don't mind that team. Would be happy to go with it into round 1

McGuane probably plays as a third tall so on a flank or pocket. Staker already seems to have that role though, so I don't know if there is room for McGuane right now.

Ricochet

At the very least McGuane will provide a big target for little guys like Zorko to get to his feet

Ringo

Staker at 196cm and McGuanne at 192cm provide Brisbane with three talls up front, Is that a bit much coupled with Berger resting up forward as well. May be an overkill. Not sure whether West has the capabilities of playing forward.
Will be interesting to see our forawrd structure for Round 1.

Nige

Will Brisbane be using Jackson Paine as a forward or defender? I presume a forward.
