Good afternoon all - Have not been as active rating teams this year due to other commitments but have hopped in when requested and did the occasional rate myself.

Thought I would update with my final team and then start the diary.

DEF: J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, K. Simpson, S. Hurn, M. Suckling, L. McDonald (T. Clurey, A. Georgiou)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, T. Rockliff, R. Sloane, D. Beams, D. Tyson, V. Michie, J. Polec, X. Ellis (M. Honeychurch, T. Langdon)
RUC: D. Cox, A. Sandilands (T. Derickx, F. Thurlow)
FWD: P. Dangerfield, D. Martin, D. Zorko, J. Darling, S. Higgins, G. Rohan (L. McCarthy, J. Kennedy-Harris)
CASH LEFT: $20,400

After looking through rookies decided to use Langdon and Honeychurch as DPP to forawrds and defence.

Like my bye structure as well at 8/11/11,

For round 1 will be using D Beams as VC tonight,

Some really solid picks here Ringo but are you going for overall? The reason I'm asking is because your team will probably struggle during the byes.

In DEF you have Mitchell, Simpson, Hurn and Suckling all sharing the round 9 bye. I would consider turning at least 1 and ideally 2 of them into round 8 or 10 bye players.

Then in the MIDS you have Ablett, Sloane and Beams sharing the same bye. Sloane to Rockliff or Libba maybe?

RUCKS are very solid. I prefer Nic Nat over Cox if Nic Nat is named round 1 though.

FWDS look great. I think that Darling will really turn it on early in the season against some of the weaker sides. Hopefully he can maintain it for the entire year.

Good luck in SC 2014, mate.

Ringo

Just Bear in Mind Ben for the byes the top 18 scores are taken regardless of position and that is how I am attacking byes this year with my strategy given that as you see all the best mids have the round 8 byes and the better defenders have Round 9 byes. DPP will also help.

And I made a last minute decision to change VC from Beams to Sandilands  :'( :'(

Fair enough. You have a strategy so go with it!

I changed the VC from Beams to Sandi at the last minute too but it's ok as we are missing out on just 9 extra points :)

Been absent for a while so updating now.

This is the team I went with in Round 1 - Reasonably happy apart from defenders.

Did not wish to trade till Round 3 so sitting even with Rocky suspended.  langdon will come onto field and hope that Honeychurch plays or no outs.  I also have the option of moving Honey Church forward and playingZorko, Dangerfield or Martin in mids as well.  Risky policy if it was finals but only Round 2.

The Good - Ruck Combination, Prem Forwards and Prem mids Polec
The Ugly - Higgins,  Other rookies serviceable
The Bad - Langdon on mid bench and not an emergency

Score 2231 with a ranking of 13274 not an ideal start but still in top 6%.

'Reasonably happy!'  :o :o :o

Only 'reasonably happy!?' :o :o :o

2 fwd P's of D kill it and you are only 'reasonably happy!!'

That is UNreasonable.

You should be over the moon.

And Hurn gets only 20 possessions and scores 99!

You were NEVER going to put Langdon on the field anyway.

Can't wait for week 3.  :P

Suggest you get rid of Rocky ASAP. (Heaps of trades left).

Ringo

Like most had a shocking week. Only scored 1917 and dropped to my lowest ranking in 4 years at 56,337.

Did not trade last week but moved Martin to mids via Honeychurch playing Langdon Michie emrgency and benching Rocky. Played McCarthy in forwards with Rohan on bench.

Other catastrophe was making Cox Captain.  Hurn injured early did not help either so only 7 SC points there for one of my POD's.

Will use 2 trades this week but will wait for teams and injury reports on Mitchell and Hurn.

Trades that will probably happen will be Hurn to Swallow and Honeychurch to Dunstan. Then the following week after to sort Clurey,

GM

Tough start like most mate.
I tried some educated PODs aswell that have backfired.
I have both Hodge and Mitchell but I am not trading.
Not starting Pendles and Jelwood who had til late will haunt me.
My rank atm is my worst ever so my strategy now is to hold trades and fly home.
Suring up rooks Ringo is the way to go.
Luckily enough I have most of them.
Tyson is as good as a premo atm with Polec and Dunstan a must.
Hurn is a tough one but Swallow would be a great swap if the injury is long term.
Lots jumping on Zork but I want to see what happens when Rocky returns.
Getting the good rooks and having trades left will get you back in the end mate.

Slammer

Hey Ringo,

Like myself looks like you struggled also.
I too have Hurn which cost me along with Mitchell, Laidler in backline carnage.
Luckily I have Swallow so not sure what to do with Hurn. But for yourself I reckon Swallow looks the goods this year and you should try and get him in.

johnnytheboy1

Hi Ringo,

I scored 2035 due to Enright and Hurn being injured and Mitchell not playing and not having Mcdonald as Emergency. I also forgot to bring Ellis on to the ground instead of Michie. Didn't have David Swallow in my team which didn't help.
Hope we all have a better week this week as i have dropped down in to the mid 54,ooo's in ranking.

Capper

Wow Missy Higgins?? She will leave you with a scar!!!

Ringo

Have just realised for my second trade I can go Cluery to Dunstan via Langdon.  Means I lose the DPP.  Will probably make final decision when teams named.

Score Updates
Round 1 2231; Round 2 1917; Round 3 2250

Round 3 Team

Round 3 trades:
Hurn > Tyson
Honeychurch > Dunstan
Cash available $252k
Trades remaining 28

Round 3 score 2250
Overall Ranking 39897 up 16440

Issues to deal with this week
Lecras out for 4 weeks
JKH whose B/E is now out to +30
Clurey still not named
Michie not being named but with Melbournes woes may get a recall and has a negative B/e

Thinking these trades
LeCras to Jackson Merrett - Merret has a negative B/e so will go up in cash and also gain another $107k for war chest.
Varcoe as a nice POD with a low B/e at same price also being considered.
Other Options are Parker, Breust, Darling. Parker would be a keeper if I went that way/
JKH to Lewis Taylor will more than likely be the other trade. Missed Taylors first price rise but due to sub only up $20k. JS will be assured with Brisbanes injury at the moment.

Will leave me Michie and Clurey to sort out next week and hopefully no injuries.

Vinny

Nice team Ringo.

Dempster your POD hey? Started very nicely, reckon he can keep it up all season to be a keeper?

Michie has to go soon, broke his jaw and is out for 4 weeks.

Lecras to Merrett looks alright but maybe go for Fasolo as Merrett will not be a keeper so paying 330k, I don't know.

Varcoe looks alright too but we have said that for a couple seasons, haha.

Capper

So Grazz, LF, Ringo all had Missy Higgins in their starting teams in multiple comps.

Seems like some false information was shared amongst colleges

Sorry Vinny Alzheimers loaded previous version rather than correct one,  Too many changes each week to keep up.  Ha Ha.

Thanks for the info on Michie was unaware of that one.
