Fasolo was in the Pies best 22 before his injury woes and think if fit he is a lock , Rohan is highly thought of at the swans and his injury will probably rob him of a year or more but in todays paper they say he is flying and lightning quick good luck

Have not put an update up for a while so thought I would post this team with both GAJ and Pendles in it. Think it is quite strong with a few calculated risks.  Rookies will be decided for Round 1 as i have quite a few with Round 8 bye so that may change, Do not mind this structure either,

Higgins may become Clark. Karnezis or Bock depending on pre-season and being named,

DEF: J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, K. Simpson, D. Swallow, R. Schoenmakers, L. McDonald (D. Byrne-Jones, M. Fuller)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, S. Pendlebury, T. Rockliff, D. Beams, D. Thomas, V. Michie, X. Ellis, P. Cripps (L. Dunstan, N. Gordon)
RUC: M. Lobbe, A. Sandilands (D. Currie, F. Thurlow)
FWD: P. Dangerfield, D. Martin, J. Gunston, D. Zorko, S. Higgins, S. Kersten (D. Garlett, J. Kennedy-Harris)
CASH LEFT: $6,900
Reasoning behind Schoey? Obviously will wait on rookies to be named come round 1, but not sure if all of them will play. We'll see I guess.

Ringo

Just a gut feel on Schoey - Prior to injury last year started with 74 v Geelong and 101 v West Coast and then a  44 whilst standing Cloke. Know he struggles against the Big Boys but he has put on muscle which may help.  Is priced at a 45 average and will be much better than that so may be a stepping stone to an upgrade.  Also had to seek cheaper options if playing both Ablett and Pendles and figued the combined score of Ablett and Pendles would outweigh Ablett/Pendles and Suckling who would have the position. May change when I sort out rookies though if I can get enough cash to go back to Suckling.

Hi Ringo, thought I'd cast an eye over your team as you're so helpful to others year after year, good bloke!

DEF: Great, quite deep.  I know your rookies aren't set in stone but surely Byrne-Jones won't crack in Ports best 22?
MID: Again, great, and deep.
RUCK: Great, seems to be the "default" ruck combo at the momo
FWD: Oh dear..... Why would you "Higgings" yourself? Have you lost your mind!

I really like your team mate, I just can't approve of Higgins, he hit my "Never Again" list 2 years ago! Plenty of good replacement options available though so all good.

Hey Ringo

Overall a very nice looking team, just a few too many players I would put into the "unproven, pricey and risky" category - people you'll shell out a bit of coin for that don't have a silver lining if they don't perform.

Swallow, Lobbe, Gunston, Zorko - lots backing them for a breakout/return to form season which is fine but at 430-460k there isn't a lot of room for that plan to go wrong. If they don't fire then they aren't going to be making much money and you'll ultimately want to trade them. Eggs entirely in one basket there... Don't get me wrong, I can totally see the justification for all 4, I think it's just a risk with that number of them. None of them have been priced at that value for any reason other than form, and Zorko is the only one who had a keeper worthy season prior.

Players like Schoenmakers, Sandi I like more because they are so low priced that even if they don't hit keeper scores they'll still make a bit of money as a stepping stone. Kersten also carrying a couple of niggles so not 100% confident on him as a field player.

You've seen my team so you know I'm running with a risky cut price forward strategy But I don't think there's a player in my team who would be a risk to stagnate or go backwards $$$ wise. Potentially Buddy I guess...

The defenders as a few others have mentioned, I probably wouldn't go with Schoenmakers. He is too pricey for his scoring potential and I can't see him heading upwards of 400k to turn into a premo. You might be better off downgrading him to a rookie priced guy and using the cash along one of the other lines.

The mids look good although I doubt Cripps will break into the Blues side and get games. I am assuming he is just a placeholder for now and I am surprised you didn't try and squeeze Claye Beams in unless you think he won't be in the Lions 22 come the start of the season?

The rucks are good, the one suggestion I will make is Ben Brown over Currie. Brown is slightly cheaper and he is more likely to get games alongside Goldstein then Currie is. He also has DPP which could come in handy if/when Sandilands gets injured.

With your forwards I would avoid Higgins. Every team I have seen with him I have said the same thing. I would rather save the cash and get someone like Fasolo/Sam Blease/Rohan. There are a lot of guys under 300k in the forward line this year that could be worth looking at. I think it is a bit risky going with both Gunston and Zorko. It might be worth trying to downgrade Higgins to Rohan and use that cash to upgrade one of those two guys to maybe someone like Charlie Dixon as he will give you a DPP option to move around into your rucks to replace Sandilands if he does go down

Like this team very much has a good strong permiums and a good selection of Rookies. The thing i have noticed though you have left out Martin from this Team.
Backs: Very Strong
Mids Solid Cripps is the POD have not seen him in many teams this may work out well.
Rucks: Solid
Fwds: Zorko is a good pick here.

Give this team an 8.5/10

Hadn't posted on here today as i have been in hospital this time through dehydration as i  threw up 5 times had the ambulance take me to Hospital must have caugh some stomach bug being Given Maxolon to stop the Vomiting.

tor01doc

Hey jtb,

Well done on spelling maxOlon correctly.

87% of nurses and doctors spell it maxAlon.

Hope you are better hydrated - try a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.  ;)

By the way Rrrringo, nice team.

I can't tell your bye splits, but you will no doubt have considered that.

Schoenmakers worries me.

X Ellis is made of glass. Cripps - JS?

Like your rucks.

Higgins worth the rollercoaster rise again I guess.

Good luck.

Ringo

Thanks Doc

Bye Structure is unusual in that it is 10/12/8 - A lot though of the 12 in Round 9 are rookies. Final pl;aces will be decided by NAB cup as Cripps Ellis may not make it.

Higgins I am hoping he will at least make byes to allow upgrade but if he goes done again he will be gone forever. Yes I Know but at that price hard to ignore.

Forever until he's priced at 96k next year? ;)

But to be fair I'm definitely considering him, not in the team at the moment but might replace someone like Lennon for bye purposes...

Ringo

Good afternoon all - Have not been as active rating teams this year due to other commitments but have hopped in when requested and did the occasional rate myself.

Thought I would update with my final team and then start the diary.

DEF: J. McVeigh, S. Mitchell, K. Simpson, S. Hurn, M. Suckling, L. McDonald (T. Clurey, A. Georgiou)
MID: G. Ablett jnr, T. Rockliff, R. Sloane, D. Beams, D. Tyson, V. Michie, J. Polec, X. Ellis (M. Honeychurch, T. Langdon)
RUC: D. Cox, A. Sandilands (T. Derickx, F. Thurlow)
FWD: P. Dangerfield, D. Martin, D. Zorko, J. Darling, S. Higgins, G. Rohan (L. McCarthy, J. Kennedy-Harris)
CASH LEFT: $20,400

After looking through rookies decided to use Langdon and Honeychurch as DPP to forawrds and defence.

Like my bye structure as well at 8/11/11,

For round 1 will be using D Beams as VC tonight,

shaker

Good solid team Ringo with some good PODS was thinking Beams for VC as well but think I might go Sandi well the season has finally got here so good luck  ;)

Strong team Ringo- well structured obviously and a couple excellent POD's in Sloane and Darling who are in very few, if any sides on FF.

Would you keep Honeychurch if he is not named for DPP or replace him with a mid that is named next weekend?

Beams a very popular pick for VC and will be following suit tonight.

Ringo

Honeychurch will stay mainly for the flexibility of DPP - Sandilands is a possible alternative to Beams as well.
